Oh. Hi there.
I did not plan on taking a whole week off from blogging but my intestines had other plans. If you missed my updates on Facebook and Instagram, I had the lovely stomach flu on Monday and Tuesday this past week. On the bright side, I did get to enjoy Christmas day. However, not only was I touched by the antennae of the flu bug so was my dad and my mother in law. It was a.w.f.u.l. I felt so bad especially for my MIL who had to get on a plane yesterday still feeling dizzy and icky. Thankfully the throwing up part was over with but still. Not the ideal way to spend a week’s vacation.
So my week off from work that I had planned full of trail running, maybe trying out my new running snowshoes (if we got any snow), hanging out with family and enjoying no schedule, turned into a week of mostly laying in bed and sleeping. And today I’m back at work. Boo.
On December 27th, I celebrated my 5 year blog anniversary. It’s hard to believe it’s been that long. If you want to read my first ever post, HERE it is. I’m embarrassed to even point you in that direction. But we’re all friends here so why should I be embarrassed. You gotta start somewhere!
In some ways I’m amazed that I’m still blogging. It’s not an easy thing to keep up. But I love, you, the readers. It’s what makes me come back to my keyboard four times a week to share running, yoga, fitness and healthy eating.
Thank you to every single one of you who have come to my little corner of the internet. I sincerely appreciate it!

Hands down this was the most read post from Happy Fit Mama this year. Podcasts are huge! Funny story – I hooked my dad up with his first podcast experience this week. He didn’t want to listen to running ‘casts but fly fishing. Needless to say, there’s a podcast for everything! If you’ve got the podcast bug, take a look at my fav picks.
I think the majority of people who clicked on this post thought I’d be sharing don’t buy Gu because it’s worthless or some other runner “necessity”. Instead, I give you a satirical look at what runner’s don’t need to buy because we spend all our money on running gear and that’s all we ever do.
In 2016, I introduced the monthly series, Workouts for Runners. Five of my other running blogging friends helped contribute workouts for runners by runners each month. Obviously, you guys want to get faster. Who doesn’t? I’m happy to say that series will continue on in 2017 with a wider range of running topics, not just workouts. Stay tuned!

By far, one of my favorite things from the year. It’s been 6 months since the race and I still find a way to talk about it at least once (if not more) a week.
I’m not sure the what or where I’ll be running just yet in 2017 but I’m excited to see what happens!
