Happy Wednesday friends!
It’s that time of the week where we gawk at other people’s food. It’s kind of weird, no? I really don’t think my food is all that interesting. In fact, I think it’s rather normal and boring. But anywho, I like to share since I always get the question, “What is that?” and “Did you make that?”
My original plan for this week’s WIAW was to show you all the yummy food I ate to refuel my hard working muscles after running Smuttynose Half Marathon on Sunday. In the past, I’ve been a ravenous beast within a few hours of the race. I couldn’t eat enough! Not so much this time…
Post race, I choked down a few bites of a PowerBar that was given out at the finish line. It was awful but I didn’t have many other options. On the ride home, I started feeling nauseous and my tummy was feeling off. Needless to say for the next 2 hours I was planted on the couch trying to at least drink some water to rehydrate and to keep everything down. The rest of the day, I nibbled on a few little things until I started to feel better. So, no celebratory dinner for me this time!
Instead of seeing a picture of water and crackers, I give you what I ate on Tuesday. It’s much more appealing in my opinion.
Breakfast
I was starving after my morning run with my new running buddy (yay! More on that later this week) so I was super excited when I saw the bottom of my almond butter jar when I went to make my breakfast. Perfect timing for OIAJ! No time for pictures. Oatmeal get in my belly! I seriously could eat oatmeal every day for breakfast, lunch, snack or dinner. Is it the actual oats or the nut butter? Hmmmm…whatever it is it makes me happy!
Snacks
The spooky snack monster came around mid morning. Green PB Dip and Sunflower Seed Coconut Crackers. The Green PB Dip would be perfect for a Halloween Party, no? Pass it off as moldy brains or something…hmmmm. Later in the afternoon there was another snack attack.
No recovery was needed. I just wanted something with pumpkin! ๐
Lunch
For lunch, I made a Mahi Mahi Burger that I recently picked up from Trader Joe’s. Can I just tell you how much I love having it just down the street now! I should add that to my happy list. ๐
I topped the burger off with red onions, shredded carrots, Claussen pickles (the BEST pickles), and salsa. Red grapes on the side. I think I ate my weight in grapes while waiting for the burger to cook. Sometimes they just hit the spot.
Dinner
This is the first week of the Meal Planning Challenge. It’s going well. I switched some of the recipes around to different days just because Buddha’s Delight sounded really good for dinner on Tuesday and we didn’t do take out on Sunday.
I found a recipe for Buddha’s Delight years ago from Cooking Light. Prior to making it, I never had heard of it. We don’t eat tofu all that often but this recipe is perfect with it.ย The sauce is a little bland if you follow the directions exactly so I add more ginger and garlic for extra taste.
Obviously, I’m feeling much better. Oh, and I won’t be eating a Power Bar anytime soon. Blech!
Head on over to Peas and Carrots for more WIAW food gawking!

That Buddah’s Delight looks awesome! I can’t wait to make some for myself ๐
Thanks for sharing your delicious day of eats. Happy WIAW….

I felt sick after my half too. It was a bummer because my family and my bff took me to lunch at a yummy Mexican restaurant and I just sat there, I coudn’t gag down anything. At least I ate at the finish line….Jamba Juice smoothies and bagel. It saved me really…I was so sick up to that point. I can’t believe they didn’t give you something better like at least a banana or bagel. I’ll have to try a pumpkin smoothie, never had one before and that stir fry looks yum…even at 3:00 in the morning. ๐ I have a sick kid. Jessica

There was apples, Stonyfield Froyo bars, and clam chowder. I started eating an apple but was attacked by my kids when they saw it. Nothing else remotely sounded appealing although I would have killed for a bagel! ๐
I loooooove nut butter, and I loooooove oats. However, I can’t stand the two together. I know – healthy living blogger fail. haha
I’ll have to keep an eye out for those Mahi Mahi Burgers though. I’ve tried the salmon ones, and they’re pretty good!

That green nut butter is PERFECT of this month’s WIAW theme. You are actually the first blogger to hit on the “spooky snacks” part so far ๐
I’ll admit that it was a total coincidence with the green PB dip. I didn’t know this month’s theme till hours after I ate it!
Ooohhh loving your snacks!
I have no issue drooling over other ppl’s eats! lol

Oh I hate that icky nauseous feeling. Almost always for me it’s a sugar/electrolyte problem. Beer (oddly enough) seems to work wonders LOL.
I really need to try nut butters! I love all nuts but haven’t been creative with those and eating, thanks for the ideas!

Couldn’t agree more on the PowerBar. I grabbed one after the race and it’s still sitting in my backpack (and thankfully i turned down the powerbar mid-race free gel!) I went for the Stonyfield froyo bars and clam chowder, but I think the dairy wasn’t much better of a choice!
Toss the bar!! One of the grossest things I’ve ever attempted to eat. Did you enjoy the race?
It was only my second half so not a lot to compare to, but I did enjoy the course/views. Almost makes me want to do a full, but hard to imagine running 4+ hours (.. in the rain!)
A pumpkin pie recovery smoothie?! Awesome! ๐ And yay for workout buddies. They make a workout so much more fun.
That is one delicious day! Sorry you felt so gross on Sunday… sometimes races have that affect on my stomach, too. I might need to add Buddha’s Delight to my menu plan for next week!
