Thanksgiving “Earn Your Feast” Workout & More

Happy day before Thanksgiving everyone!

I couldn’t do a  WIAW  WIATuesday in good conscious without also giving you a workout. So let’s talk MOVING first before EATING.

The average adult will eat a 2500 calorie Thanksgiving day feast. That’s not all day. That’s one meal. So before you belly up to the table, why not torch some calories first to get your metabolism humming along?

This workout can be done anywhere. So if your staying at Grandma’s house and don’t have access to any equipment, no worries. All you need is a little space.  It’s quick and to the point. Grab your relatives for some added fun. Why not make it a competition to see who can get in the most reps? Top two winners get to split the wish bone!

What to do:

As always do a 5 minute warm up before beginning this workout.

  • Do each exercise for 30 seconds each. Get as many reps as possible (AMRAP) during that time.
  • Rest 10 seconds between each exercise.
  • After all four exercises are done, rest 30 seconds before beginning the next cycle.
  • Get as many cycles as you can in 16 minutes.

Follow up with cool down to bring the heart rate down to resting levels.

Do this workout! Before you feast. After. As a warm up before shopping on Black Friday. Whatever. JUST DO IT! 🙂

So now a little WIAW WIATuesday.

Monday morning I saw Heather‘s guest post for Laura. (If you don’t know Heather from Kiss My Broccoli, you should. Her recipes are drool worthy! Laura’s are too!Banana S’mores Protein Pancakes – oh yes! I had it planned to eat a short stack of yumminess Tuesday morning post run.

Of course, the morning turned out to be a little crazy. After getting myself ready, taking care of the morning routine with the kids, starting a load of laundry and changing all the bedding, I was more than ready to start my pancakes. I was all ready to dig in when A proclaimed she had to go poop.We are in the early stages of potty training in the HFM house. A decided today would be a great day to sit on the big potty for 20 minutes and not produce anything. Of course, monkey see, monkey do. L thought he’d give it a try to. After another 20 minutes, we were all out of the bathroom and no one had actually gone to the bathroom.

Time to enjoy this beauty.

Not so much. A announced she had to go again. So back to the bathroom we went. I seriously thought about bringing the pancakes in with us. I was starving after my 5 mile run but I thought that wouldn’t be setting a good example for the kiddos. 🙂

Ten minutes later we were out (successfully this time!). At last, I had a bite of the pancakes. OH MY! Sooooo good! I didn’t have any vanilla protein powder so I subbed in chocolate raspberry PlantFusion. I also didn’t have any graham crackers. That would be the icing on the cake for sure. This little concoction will be made again and again.

The pancakes filled me up for the whole morning. That never happens with any food. I always seem to get a little hungry around mid-morning. Not yesterday.

I’m not feeling entirely creative with my food this week. I have zero desire to cook other than Thanksgiving Day. Speaking of which, I’m still not sure of the menu. My Pinerest board is staring at me. I’ll be one of those people running to the grocery store Thanksgiving Day to pick up last minute essentials.

Kitchen sink salad, spoonful(s) of homemade almond butter, Peppermint Mocha, Crockpot Sweet Potato Chili with toasted spinach wrap. Unpictured homemade Chocolate Brownie larabar.

  1. First off, thanks for the great workout! I plan on getting in some form of cardio for sure Thursday morning and this looks awesome!
    Second, haha! Potty training sounds like so much fun! At least you were rewarded for your patience with delicious pancakes! Yum!

    1. The hubs suggested we put a magazine rack in the bathroom. At least we’ll have something to look at when we’re in there for hours. 🙂 The pancakes were soooo what I needed!

  2. I saw those pancakes on Sprint 2 the Table too and thought they looked amazing. Glad to hear they lived up to the hype!

    My pinterest board stares at me a lot. It calls out, “Make me! Make me!” I usually ignore it. Haha.

  3. We are potty training too and my girls always want to sit on the potty for 20 mins + as a way to stay up later at bed time. Not so sneaky tactic! Love that they are keen but hate hanging out in the bathroom!

  4. I love split squat jumps and your banana s’mores protein pancakes look as good if not better than the dessert crepes I made tonight with chocolate, peanut butter and bananas! I think you would agree that a little indulgence is so necessary 😀

  5. We always go on an 8 mile hike or run the 5k before Thanksgiving. And I don’t eat any more on Thanksgiving than I do at any other meal. Eat till I am full, and then stop.
