Tell Me About Your 2012

Earlier this week, Amanda from Miss Zippy, wanted everyone to

“Tell Me About Your 2012.”

It’s a running year in review. I love the idea! Too many times I look ahead instead of what I’ve accomplished in the past few months (or year). It’s also like having a virtual coffee chat with all of you to discuss running, one of my favorite topics!

Feel free to answer the questions in the comments or do your own blog post.

Best race experience? Wallis Sand Half Marathon in May.

wallis sands half marathon -

I got a 3 minute PR and felt great the whole time. That was a race that made me feel like I really could go faster with proper training. I have to laugh at this picture. It looks like I’m having the time of my life but in reality I was swearing at my friend for taking a picture of me while I was running up a big ass hill!

Best run? My first “longer” run post rehab for Patellofemoral Syndrome. I was worried that I’d never be able to run longer than 3 miles again. Also, some of my favorites are when I take the kids with me to the beach. I have my fun running and then it’s their turn to tear it up.

Best new piece of gear? Hmmm…so many good things. I’d have to say my Garmin 405 that I got for Christmas last year. I love that I don’t have to map out a run before I leave the house. I can keep track of my mileage with it and just add on as needed. Also my Banjee’s Wrist Wallet. I take that thing with me on almost all my runs. Frees up my hands and is especially great when I don’t have any pockets. Oh! And my compression socks. Not for running but for recovery and just making my legs feel goooooood!

Best piece of running advice you received? Another one that’s hard to pick just one. Run your own race. Cross training is the key to being a better, healthier runner. Do more yoga. You don’t have to run a marathon to be a runner. Lay off the veggies the day before a race. ๐Ÿ™‚

Most inspirational runner? So many…I love reading running blogs and following everyone’s story whether it’s running day to day or in a race. That inspires me to run. In real life, it’s definitely my friend Steph. She blows me away with her speed, hard work and determination. The girl won a lot of races this year and even got a BQ!

If you could sum up your year in a couple of words, what would they be? Amazing. Disappointed. Happy. Inspired. Smarter. Always learning. Fun. Challenges. That’s more than a couple but it was an interesting year! Can’t wait to see what 2013 brings!

Giveaway for an Under Armour Armour Bra ends tonight (12/13) @ 10 p.m.!

  2. I’m excited to write up my recap, too! I told Amanda I’d like to host a link up of our recaps (from her survey, or others)… hopefully in the next week or two, so we can read and support each other.
All in all, you had a great year! I’m so glad you can end the year on a high note, with your ptfs cleared up and a strong half marathon. Congrats!

For me, I got in the best shape of my life to date ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’m still working on it. We’re financially free this year after having a very hard year the previous and I found my passion for helping others!

  4. Loved hearing about your year! I must do this for my blog too.

Here is mine: Ran 2 marathons, both of which pushed me to a limit I never knew possible. Won two races! Went through a major heartbreak, then fell in love with the man of my dreams. Traveled to new places, and met amazing new people!
