Snack Attack!

Hi there!

I had every intention of getting the post up about my knee situation on Tuesday. But then life happened and then something else happened and it didn’t happen. You know how it is, right? Tomorrow for sure. Or maybe Friday. We’ll see what happens. 🙂 The indecisive side of me is coming out.

I wanted to show you all some of the great food that was part of my weekend at Healthy Living Summit.

Popcorn bar – great idea for birthday parties!

Mini Whoopie Pies – I’m really not a fan of Whoopie Pies but I look forward to pumpkin picking in the Fall just so I can get a Pumpkin Whoopie Pie from the farm that we go to. Not much longer!

Dancing Deer Baking Company Fruit and Nut Squares w/ Rolled Oats. They also gave us a Pecan Brownie that was absolutely decadent and delicious. No picture because I dove head first into it. 🙂

Cascadian Farm Ancient Grains Granola and Driscoll’s blueberries. We are huge Cascadian Farm lovers. If I’m going to buy granola, I will only get theirs. Here’s a little tip – buy it from Target. Way cheaper than the grocery store. Ancient Grains Granola is brand new and is just as good as all the others. Love!

Attune Erewhon Supergrains Cereal – Full of buckwheat and hemp, this cereal has 5 grams of fiber and 6 grams of protein. Super tasty and crunchy by itself or with almond milk.

I’ve been really snacky lately for some reason. The impending Fall season? Maybe I’m like the squirrels and stocking up on food for the winter. Speaking of Fall, this is going on in my back yard right now.

I like Fall but I love summer. I want more hot days to go to the beach. I don’t want it to be dark when I wake up at 5 a.m.! I’m not ready.

Anyway, back to snacks. My taste in snacks has changed. A month ago I didn’t want to eat anything other than smoothies. Now it’s more “warm” food. I tried making my first ever protein cake in a cup.

Who knew 1:30 would be too long in the microwave! I still ate it. It was actually pretty good. Especially topped with this:

Does anyone else agree that Justin’s is the best almond butter ever? Normally I wouldn’t spend that much (I buy my grocery store’s brand or from TJ’s) but it was on sale from Target. Even if it was only 50 cents off, it was so worth it.

I had to get this hummus when I spotted it at the grocery store.

Where has this been hiding? If you like artichoke spinach dip, this is for you. Great with chips, veggies and on sandwiches. BTW – does anyone know the difference between hummus and hommus? Just curious.

I was craving popcorn on Monday. I air popped a batch, melted a little bit of coconut butter and poured it over. I then did a few twists of Trader Joe’s Sugar, Chocolate and Coffee Bean Grinder that I got last month from my foodie pen pal. Whoa! What took me so long to figure out that combination?

I haven’t been to the WIAW party in awhile but I’m back! Head on over to Jenn’s for more menu and snacking ideas.

  1. Justin’s Nut Butter is delicious! As is Cedar’s Hommus! (don’t think there is a difference between hommus and hummus) I’m not sure if it’s Cedar’s or Joseph’s that also makes a artichoke and olive….sooo delicious. I like to buy Cedar’s because it’s local but currently am obsessed with Sabra’s Chipotle & Jalapeno hummus. If you like spicy you should try them! Not a fan of microwave cakes. The texture is weird for me.
