Post Thanksgiving 2012

Hey everyone!

The feast is over! I hope you did something active yesterday to burn a little before settling in. If not, that’s o.k. Today’s a new day to regroup. Here’s a treadmill workout guaranteed to get you back on track and feeling the burn.

It’s a good one that will leave you feeling like you kicked some serious boo-tah!

Yesterday was a very low key Holiday, as are most in our house. We started the day off with a nice family Turkey Trot of our own. I was thrilled when Ron said he’d come along for a run just as long as I pushed the stroller.

It’s been awhile since I pushed those big kids around on a run. I need to do it more often even though it really, really sucks. Pushing about 100 pounds of kids and stroller is a serious workout!

After 2 miles we split up. They all went to the park and I continued on for a total of 6.5 miles. I don’t know what’s got into me but I felt really good. My pace was rocking and the miles flew by. It was a gorgeous sunny day so that was an extra bonus. Woo-hoo!

We weren’t eating our Thanksgiving meal until later in the day so I got to enjoy a rare afternoon nap. After that I started on prepping everything. It all came together easily since we weren’t having a turkey or anything too big. Yes, you read that right. We did not have turkey. No one likes it so why would we make it?

I kept it simple

Ron volunteered to make the cheesecake. It was outstanding! I think it’s my new favorite dessert!

I’m linking up with Jenn for What I Ate On Thanksgiving! Check out all the other links to get ideas for next year!

After enjoying and giving thanks we spent the rest of the evening curled up on the couch watching a little of Shrek before it was bedtime for the kiddos.

I’m thankful for my little family!

Hope you all have a great weekend! If you are crazy enough to be braving Black Friday sales, be safe!

  1. I was SO HAPPY when the kids started school so I could run while they were there as opposed to lugging around that double jogging stroller behemoth! Pumpkin cheesecake is always a staple for us on turkey day too… as well as the day-after long run- thanks for the TM workout!

  2. It looks like you had such a nice Thanksgiving! As much as I love spending time with ALL our families (that’s right, plural, we had three Thanksgivings this year!) I can’t help but think how nice it would be to just do a small dinner with my little family 🙂

  3. Sounds like a perfect Thanksgiving day. We started late in the day too, had dinner around 4pm on my side of the family and then again at 7pm on my hubbies side of the family. I did well with eating and managed to get a 30 minute jog with some core before my day started. I like to play around with the intensity too on the treadmill, I’ll try your “after the burn” workout on Monday! BTW, beautiful pic of your family! 🙂

    1. Thanks, Lisa! I can never go at a steady state on a treadmill – my mind wanders and I want to jump off! Changing the speed and/or incline makes me pay attention and the minutes go by quickly. Hope you like it!
