Winter has officially arrived in New Hampshire! And baby, it’s cold out there.
We got over a foot of powdery snow Saturday night/Sunday morning. The kids were thrilled and eager to play in it. I wanted to play too except my version was a run. Running in the first significant snow of the year is always fun. It’s not about speed or mileage. It’s about playing and feeling like a kid again.
Well, I didn’t get to run in the snow BUT I did run one marvelous mile. Say what?? Yup. Yesterday was 5 weeks to the day that I last ran. I attempted a run/walk a couple of weeks ago but my tendon wasn’t too happy afterwards. So instead of playing running in the snow, I hopped on my treadmill. After walking for 2.5 miles and feeling warmed up, I decided it was time to test the waters. I inched the speed up to a slow (for me) pace. I told myself to play it cool. Be conservative. I promised myself I would not run more than 1 mile no matter what.
You guys, that mile was a.maz.ing! It’s funny how my body just knew what to do immediately. It just felt right. Oh how I’ve missed that feeling!
So where do I go from here? I potentially have my last PT appointment this week. I’ll talk it over with Heather to form a plan. I know I need someone to give it to me straight and be the voice of reason. In the past, I’ve gone back too fast, too soon. My fingers and toes are crossed that I’m on my way.
I did eventually get to really play in the snow. My big kid husband made a big mountain of snow for the kids to climb on and sled down. I don’t know who was having more fun – the adults or kids?
Just a reminder Friday, 12/20, Jill and I are doing the link up for A Day in the Life. Join in and be nosy!
How was your weekend?
Did you get to play in the snow?
I didn’t realize you were wearing a face mask and thought it was some zombie picture. LOL. Fist bump for pain free miles. Didn’t realize you have been out for 5 weeks. I am getting itchy coming into 3 weeks.

It kind of does look zombieish! Fitting since I’m a wee bit obsessed with The Walking Dead. And fist bumps all around more pain free miles!
Yay for your marvelous mile! I’ve got my fingers & toes crossed for your last PT appointment. Love the pics of all the kids playing in the snow! Send some of the fluffy stuff this way. Who doesn’t dream of a white Christmas?

If I could I would! Last year we didn’t have any snow for Christmas. This much, this soon is kind of odd.
I neeeed to get my child to snow (tahoe?) as I grew up with it everywhere ๐ and am over it (still) but she’s never really seen it before….

Oh you must! Kids know how to enjoy the snow the best. When I get grumpy about the cold and snow, I follow my kids lead. Let’s play!

Weekend was awesome. It was slow, and it was just perfect. I savoured it all.
Funny thing, I spent hours in the kitchen this weekend and it didn’t even phase me. I enjoyed everything I was preparing. Slowly. Ah the joys of being on holidays. So marvelous. xo

That does sound awesome! So glad you got to savor it.
I love the first picture!! We have been getting rain down here in NC but no snow… yet. We typically have ice over snow and dare I say, I kind of miss the snow a little?

I moved from Michigan to Virginia at one time. I thought I wanted a break from loads of snow and cold. It turned out I kind of missed the snow. Although ask me again in a month and I’ll be cursing it again!
My version of playing in the snow was digging out my car and my neighbor’s car, but I actually really love doing that! I love the workout.

Looks like fun! We only got about 3-4 inches in RI, but then it rained on top of it so when we shoveled on Sunday morning it was heaaaaavy!

Ugh! That’s the worst type of snow. Yuck!
Playing in the snow is the BEST! Especially when you can go back inside and enjoy hot chocolate to warm up… ๐

That would have been fantastic except we didn’t have any in the house. Mama fail!
YAY!!! I’m so so so excited for you and happy that you got to run!! Doesn’t that first mile back feel amazing?? I hope that things go well with PT and that you are back at it soon. Hardest thing for me is to not push it. Congrats!

I’m so glad the mile went well! I am off running and exercise for a medical reason right now and can’t wait to get back to it. I’m hoping my muscles just know what to do when my 8 weeks are up.
