Meal Planning: Week of April 7

It’s another week of meal planning!

But before I get into that, I want to mention the sugar detox Ron and I did this past week. Going into it, I had been craving all things salty. Sugar did not sound appealing to me at all. I decided to do the challenge as a way to convince Ron to do it too. I wanted him to see how much sugar he eats in a day. As soon as I said yes, I immediately wanted sugar. Chocolate chips, ice cream, jelly beans…you name it, I wanted it. I guess that’s proof that telling your mind that you can’t have something makes you want it even more!

The first two days were the hardest. I had serious chocolate cravings! Ron and I both had headaches too. Wednesday and Friday I was put to the test at work. One of our patients (a cardiac patient mind you) brought in a dozen freshly made chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin cookies. Then a coworker brought in really, really good muffins from a bakery on Friday. I resisted both days. They just didn’t sound appealing to me. Very strange because usually I’d have at least a taste of both!

Yesterday during my 20 miler I did bend the rules and used gels for fuel. All day after my run, sugary anything did not sound good. In fact thinking of sugar kind of mind me want to vomit.

So where does this leave me? Will I give up all forms of sugar for good? No BUT it has taught me that I don’t need to have it and I can find alternatives to my cravings. Oh and Ron? He did awesome all week but said he was done on Saturday. Then the leftover Easter jelly beans came out….:)

Tuesday: Avocado Lentil Enchiladas

Wednesday: Southwestern Pizza

Thursday: Slow Cooker White Chili

Friday: Leftovers

Saturday: Brinner

  1. Good for you girl! I’m not quite sure I’d have the willpower to pass up fresh muffins from the bakery =) Yum!!

    This week were having; Southwestern Quinoa Salad with Black Beans, Red Bell Pepper, and corn; Mexican meatloaf; Pumpkin & white bean soup.

  2. Great job on the sugar detox!!! Ron and the jelly beans sort-of makes me laugh but good for him for making it through the week, too!
    We are having pulled pork and slaw today – that is about as far as I’ve gotten on the planning.
    Your slow cooker white chili sounds really good but I think we might actually be done with soup and chili for now!!
