Marvelous is…

Happy Monday everyone!

I’m feeling very marvelous today. Why you ask? Because there is a LOT of marvelous going on right now. I’m sure you have it to. You just have a look for the signs.

Marvelous is…having Monday being your Friday for work. Say what? My parents are arriving tomorrow for a visit and I’ve got 10 days off before returning to work. One day work week? Simply marvelous! I don’t get to see my parents often so I’m hoping to spend as much time as possible with them and maybe even getting a couple of date days/nights with the hubs. We’re planning on taking full advantage of Grandma and Grandpa while they’re here. It’s a win for everyone!

Marvelous is…Seeing a sunset like this.

sunset - happyfitmama.comI chased this sunset for at least a 1/4 mile in my pajamas just to find the right spot. Yup, I was in my PJ’s at 8 pm on a Friday night. That’s how I roll. I love how the clouds look like two hands. High five to nature’s beauty!

Marvelous is…Getting my mileage back up slowly. Saturday I woke up feeling human again after the plague last week. My appetite and energy are back to normal. I had no expectations for my run. I just wanted to go by feel. For the most part, I felt good (1/2 mile walk w/u, 7 miles at easy pace, 1/2 mile walk c/d). My cardiorespiratory fitness does not seem to be impacted much by the last 2 months although I have yet to do any speed or hill work (that will really be the test). My endurance seems to be a little less but that will come back with the mileage.

Marvelous is…Registering for upcoming races. So many that I want to do! I know I will be doing the Seacoast Half Marathon (I have to! It’s one of my favs.) but I’ve also been looking at other local 1/2’s like Smuttynose (which I did last year) and the All Women and One Lucky Guy. There is even a race that I might do next weekend that will knock off two of my goals for this year – a 5k trail race! I may have even convinced Ron to do this one with me. It would be his first ever race. Now that would be a marvelous thing!

Marvelous is…Fresh picked local fruit. Over the weekend we went to one of our local farms and loaded up on peaches, blueberries and raspberries. It all tasted yummy on our Oatmeal Flax Breakfast Pizza. Or as my big guy said – It’s not a pizza. It’s a pancake!

I am so loving the fresh produce right now. I’ve been hitting the farmer’s market every week and look forward to my finds.

Marvelous to me is spending some quality play time with Keenan this morning building block cities and racing his cars! It felt good to just let go and not worry about my long to-do list and enjoy the time spent with him!
