Marvelous is…

Reflections on Running | HappyFitMama.com

Hey guys!

Happy Monday! Hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was nothing overly the top outrageous but a weekend is always good no matter what, in my opinion. To celebrate and to keep the good vibes rolling into the week, I’m thinking of all the marvelous that there was (big thanks to Katie for hosting!).

Marvelous is…a near perfectly executed progression long run. On Saturday, I hit my first double digit run in over 4 months. I purposely started off slower in hopes of at least finishing the last 5k faster for this months 5 by the 5th Virtual Race. What happened with each passing mile was that my strength and confidence grew. I felt strong. It was almost like everything finally clicked. It felt like I was standing taller, my form was better and I was floating. I completed my 5k in 23:58, 19 seconds faster than last month. This run made me feel like my old runner self. The one that made me feel like I’m BACK. I’m going to be OK. I’m done talking about tendon injuries. Slap me if I ever bring it up again, k?

Marvelous is…Getting honked at while on the above run but realizing it was not a creeper beeper perv but another runner giving me support. Side note to the driver of the car: sorry for initially flipping you off. I realized my mistake when I saw the back of your car was plastered with every single running bumper sticker ever made. Whoops! πŸ™‚

Marvelous is…sunshine and temps in the 50s. I know I keep mentioning the improving weather but it seriously is the best to finally have sunshine and SPRING!

  1. Ha Ha Ha at you not realizing it was a runner @ first. Im sure they completely understand. I mean as a runner, you get used to being honked at by perves. The person probably even got a little chuckle out of the bird you flipped :). Congrats on an awesome run & beating last months time. Keep pushing yourself & you’ll be better than ever.

  2. OMG – you flipped the person off?! I probably would have done the same thing. LOL. Marvelous for me right now is taking things more slowly while I get back on my feet. A forced slow down is making me more mindful and intentional which I love.

  3. LOL you flipped them off? I would have loved some sunshine this weekend. Our temps were 49 and rainy. Where do I live again? So glad you had some sun and warmer temps to enjoy!

  4. Hooray for being “back!” I don’t think there is much better than being all the way back after a major injury!
Funny about the honking incident – I never honk at runners for that very reason – I try to give them wide berth (lots of two lane roads around here so it is hard) and if they look I wave.

  5. I just love your picture at the top. Something about the reflection and the pink laces. This makes me want to run as does the warmer temps we’ve been having! So happy to hear your back to running and feeling good! Now we need to plan a NH meet up and run!

  6. Yay Angela! So glad your running is back to normal, once you have that run, your mind can be free, and you can truly start to enjoy running! So happy for you! I also often get annoyed when people honk…..but for the reason you first flicked that person off….usually a pervy guy!

I had a marvelous weekend hanging out with olympians and racing in the Cherry Blossom 10 mile, it was amazing!!!!
