Marathon Monday Week 9

Happy Marathon Monday for REAL everyone! I’m so excited for my friends and favorite bloggers who are running the Boston Marathon today. I had hoped to head down to the city to spectate but a coworker had to take the day off. It stinks but we’ll have all the TVs tuned in to the live coverage all morning. What a difference a year makes. Remember last year? The forecast is calling for near perfect conditions. Best of luck runners!

So how is training going for my own marathon? I’m 6 weeks away from the big day and the miles keeping adding up. I’m feeling fatigued but I’m blaming this pesky cold right now. If I can just get rid of the stuffed nose, I’ll be golden.

Watch on for a recap of the week and my long run on Saturday:

Sunday: Yoga

Monday: 7 miles – 5 miles @ 8:00 pace + warm and cool down + strength

Tuesday: 8 miles – 4 easy on the treadmill in the a.m. + 4 miles not so easy pushing the double stroller in the p.m. + yoga

Wednesday: 60 minute bike trainer + strength +Β  p.m. yoga

Thursday: 8 miles – new treadmill PDR – blech! That’s something I never wanted to achieve.

Friday: REST!

Saturday: 16 miles

And now for the the winners of a BAMR Band each:

Lisa J – Run Across the U.S.

Laura – Catching My Breath

Congrats! Please contact me with your mailing information ASAP so I can pass it on to Katie from BAMR Bands.

Thank you to all who entered!

  1. Sorry you’re feeling sick…ugh.

Isn’t it nice to be at a point where 16 doesn’t feel like such a big deal? Hope the foot is all good to go for you. I’m guessing the soreness is just cumulative effect of all the miles.

Keep it up–three more hard weeks and then taper!!

  2. Nice job on your training. You’ll rock your marathon!

I’ve been having a great time this morning following my friends and bloggers during the race. I feel like I’m running the race vicariously through them. In which case, I was awesome. One of my friends, a fellow coach at a local high school, ran 2:17:05! He was 14th overall, yes, OVERALL!, and was the 4th American.

  3. I’m glad you didn’t make it over. What a flippin’ horrible way to end a race, eh? Marathon training is EXHAUSTING!!!! I am about 8 weeks out from my own marathon and it’s starting to catch up to me. Looking at your schedule underlines for me that I really need to add in more yoga to my schedule. Does that help you beat some of the fatigue?

  4. I hate when colds get in the way and make workouts feel blah! But ya know what, pushing through them will make you feel that much stronger when it’s gone!

Yoga is soooo good for the muscles. That’s so cool that you get so much of it in. I recently added teaching a class in once a week and cannot get enough of it.
