I was planning on making this post a vlog but I’m feeling a little under the weather right now so this is going to be short and sweet. I’ve avoided all sickness so far this year so it was only a matter of time before it got me. Fingers crossed it’s quick and painless.
If you haven’t already guessed by the title of this post, I’m training for the KeyBank Vermont City Marathon!
I’ve heard nothing but good things about this race and I know a ton of people who are doing it this year.
Peer pressure support from friends is always a factor. I’m optimistic that this training series will be better than the failed attempt last summer. After hitting the ‘submit’ button when registering, I wanted to vomit. Gah! I’m super nervous but excited at the same time. I’ve wanted this distance for quite some time. Deep breath. Here we go!
Each Monday I’ll be recapping the previous weeks training. I’m actually on week 4 of the training plan. It’s a 16 week plan but I didn’t want to announce that I was running VC till after putting in some long runs. I needed that for a little extra confidence boost.
Here’s how last weeks training looked:
Sunday: 12 miles on hard packed and soft snow. Practiced swearing. A LOT!
Monday: Easy run 4 miles + yoga in the evening
Wednesday: Tempo run 6 miles + yoga in the evening
Thursday: Easy run 5 miles, yoga and strength
Saturday: 14 miles in the freakin’ snow AGAIN! Not as difficult running as last weeks long run but still challenging. I had a few close calls from ice under the snow. I’m hoping this is the last one for the season. Wishful thinking, I know.
Have a great day everyone!
