Last Week’s Workouts

Last week's workouts |

After Marathon Monday last week, I was running on cloud nine.  So much inspiration for every workout and every run.  But truthfully, even though I was inspired, I was SO very glad that I did not have to run in that weather.  No thank you!

6.1 mile run, 8:22 avg/pace, 279 ft elev gain

I was riding the inspiration wave still on Tuesday.  I mixed things up a bit with a one mile w/u, followed by a 3 mile progression, and two mile cool down. The thing I really like about doing progression runs is that when I get to the cool down portion, it’s amazing how slow and easy pace can feel.

7 mile run, 8:35 avg/pace, 318 ft elev gain

I am absolutely loving how light it is now in the morning.  It may not totally feel like spring temperature wise (hello upper 30s!) but the early morning light and the sound of birds  singing sure makes me feel like spring is closer.  It has to be, right?

The workout called for 1 minute pick ups at every mile but Kyle and I were so busy chattering that we forgot to about it until after mile 2 and only squeaked out 3 for the whole run.  What can I say, we had a lot to talk about.

Rest day!

12 mile run, 8:36 avg/pace, 469 ft elev gain

Mary had put out a plea for some company on her 20 miler.  I wasn’t about to do the full 20 miles but I was down for an 90 minutes of running.  I’m glad I said yes because I probably would have slept in and had to run later in the day after all the kid sports.  Having company on a long run makes a huge difference.  I felt great for the duration.

5 mile run, 8:49 avg/pace, 340 elev gain

My calves were so tight when I woke up Sunday morning.  I’m not sure why since the run on Saturday wasn’t ridiculously hilly but there is one serious hilly that kicks my butt every time.  Reminder to self – do that hill more.

I spent a good amount of time rolling and stretching before I set out for my run.  I took it easy and didn’t look at my watch at all.  I try to do most of my runs that way but for some reason easy pace happens to be in the 8:xx range no matter what.  Although after looking at my watch vs Strava stats afterwards, Strava has me running at least 20 seconds faster during two miles.  Kind of weird, right?

The sun was shining and I think spring may actually be here.  (see first pic!)

Please, please, please let that be true!

Linking up with Hoho and Wendy for the weekly workout wrap up.

  1. Looks like you had a great week! I think alot of us were inspired by Boston but also kinda of glad we weren’t running in those conditions. It does seem like maybe spring is trying to make an appearance…

  2. Great week! Boston was such a great race to watch this year…so inspiring! I would probably take rain over heat of last year, but it does sound like it was a tough day.

I’m a recent convert to kettle bell workouts. They are intense!

  3. Looks like you had a great week! I realized after watching the race that I would probably choose this year’s rain over last year’s heat. Not that the rain sounds pleasant at all, but I’ve had a bit of practice in that.
I hope spring is finally on its way to you!

  4. Strava pulls directly from my Garmin. So, I want someone to explain to me why the Strava data is so different from the Garmin data it came from. I’ve never understood this. A progression run in my favorite. I get to sleep in the first mile or so. LOL. I’m completely jealous of an easy pace in the 8:XX range. Thanks for linking!

  5. Exceptionala recenzie, de fapt o lecție deschisă despre teatrul modern ! Am devenit de un timp încoace, din sfârșitul verii trecute, un elev silitor, care a înțeles in seara aceasta, noutatea adusa de Brecht in spectacolul de teatru. Păcat că a murit in Germania ocupată de etatizarea ideologiei favorite. Ultimul vers I go back to New Orleans, to wear the ball and chain era up to date: anul 1963! 6. Multiple-vitamin supplements provide all the basic micro nutrients (vitamins and minerals) your body needs. These multiple-vitamins are generally safe because they contain only small amounts of the each nutrient.
