Last Week’s Workouts

Last week's workouts }

Last week’s workouts were purposely kept low key. I was feeling a little blah and run down so I made sure to listen to my body, take an extra rest day and make sleep a priority.

Some weeks you run fast. Some weeks you run easy. Some weeks you don’t run at all. That’s just the way the running game works.

Morning Flow Yoga at Bending Bodhi

6.6. miles, 8:50 avg/pace, 330 ft gain

The most important thing about this run? It was 55 degrees and I wore shorts and a t-shirt.  It.felt.amazing. I didn’t even realize I had missed wearing less clothing until it magically arrived on Tuesday. Of course, then it snowed 2 days later.

Because – life in New England!

This was the day that it was 70 degrees in New Hampshire.  7-0!!!  Of course, I was inside ALL day at work and had a school function for the kids right afterwards.  At least I got to eat my lunch outside!

Morning Yoga Flow at Bending Bodhi Yoga –

Two words: Pigeon Pose.  That made my day since my glutes and hips were talking to me after Wednesday’s workout. I felt a TON better after that class.

6.1 mile run, 8:47 avg/pace 316 ftgain

I really wasn’t feeling this run.  Mile one had me changing my plan from 6 miles to 3. Bu then at mile 2 I had the option of turning left to make the run short or turning right to go long.  Guess which way I went?  It wasn’t till mile 4 that I felt like I was in the flow.

Later in the day, I started to feel really run down and like I was getting a cold. I took a nap for 30 minutes and woke up a new person with no cold like symptoms. Woohoo!  I can NOT get sick right now. But really, does anyone ever want to be sick?

Rest day!

Unplanned rest day

Even though I slept in, I woke up feeling kind of run down and like I was on the verge of getting sick. Rather than running, the whole family went for a walk at the beach to enjoy the 50 degree temps.

8 mile run, 8:48 avg/pace, 387 ft gain

I woke up feeling better so I thought I’d get some miles in before the snow started to fly.  I didn’t have a plan, just go out and run whatever I felt like.

As luck would have it, I was standing at my door waiting for my watch to find a signal, when my friend Kyle went running by. I yelled for her but she couldn’t hear me with her music so I took off sprinting after her. Btw – it took 1.7 mile for my watch to FINALLY connect. GRRRRRRR!

We enjoyed 4ish miles together before she headed home and I continued on for another 4. It was nice to catch up since we haven’t been able to run with each other for weeks because of sickness.

I was still feeling a little off for the rest of the day and even enjoyed a short afternoon nap.  I’m fighting some kind of virus. My fingers are crossed that I keep it from getting any worse.

Linking up with Hoho and Wendy for the weekly workout wrap up.

How was your week in workouts?

  1. I hope you can avoid getting sick! The fluctuating temperatures probably aren’t helping. It was so nice to run in shorts this week, but then it got cold again and rained for 4 days straight.

  2. I have yet to do an unassisted pull-up either! We were working on pull-up prep and then my elbow decided to go rogue on me. So now I’m working on handstand. Push instead of pull…

I sure hope you dodge whatever is trying to make you sick! Every day I go to work, I feel like I’m playing illness roulette. This has been a bad winter.

  3. How cool is it to run in shorts and a t-shirt? I couldn’t believe my luck that it was 55 on my half marathon race day!! So amazing. Then it snowed…but, New England.
I find it amazing you can be getting ready to run and have a friend literally run by your house!? That is a dream I once had 🙂
And I find all too often lately it takes me 4-5 miles to “warm up” into a good feel on my run. Now I kind of just wait for it and hope it kicks in!

  4. Still a pretty awesome week for a cutback! I was also stuck inside most of that gorgeous 70 degree day… and while the girls’ friends were all hanging out at the playground after school, we had to rush to gymnastics. Oh well… there will be more!

  5. I hope you feel better soon and don’t get too sick! I can’t believe how much your weather swings. 70 degrees in February sounds crazy to me!
I’ve been working on my pull-up prep and it amazes me the little yet noticeable progress each week. That’s awesome how close you are to yours!

  6. Hooray for a day warm enough to run in shorts! I bet that felt amazing. I hope you are able to fight off any sickness. I keep thinking we’re over the worst of the flu and winter illnesses but — you know what you get for thinking sometimes… Thanks for linking.
