Last week’s workouts had all four seasons packed in 7 days
There’s a saying, “If you don’t like the weather in New England, wait 5 minutes”.
Last week’s workouts reminded me of that saying every single day.
Last week I ran in ALL the layers. This week I ran in shorts and a t-shirt.
So freaking bizarre. And now we are back to “normal” temps but all of our wonderful snow is gone. If it’s going to be cold, I want snow to play in. Playing in frozen dirt isn’t very fun.
The day I set my alarm for p.m. instead of a.m. I woke up 20 minutes later than I intended on my own. Thankfully, a workout was not completely out of the question. I hustled down to the basement for a workout instead.

5 miles outside in wonderfully warm temps! 30 degrees never felt so lovely.

3.2 miles in the a.m. with Amanda
When I started the lululemon/Strava 40|80 Challenge, I had no intention of running 80k. Especially with the frigid temps last week. But then I hit 40k and this week was so mild, I thought why not? So I ran again the afternoon.
3 miles in the p.m. in 50 degree weather. What?!?!
5+ mile super foggy run with Kyle in the a.m. Look at me…two early morning runs back to back.
Beer and Balance Workshop: Hip Hop Yoga Flow
You guys, this workshop was SO good. Picture it: A kick ass playlist of 90’s hip hop (Naughty by Nature, Missy Elliot, etc), sequences that made our hearts thump to the beat of the music, and a teacher that made us laugh, sweat and reminded us we are f-ing awesome for 90 minutes. My hair was soaked. I had sweat dripping off my chin. It was so fun. And then we went across the street and enjoyed a beer.
Perfect way to end a long work week!
I woke up to the sound of pouring rain. I had a short amount of time to get in my run before shuttling around kiddos for Saturday morning sports. I started off in the rain and heavy fog but the rain stopped within the first mile of my of the 5 miles I ran while wearing shorts and a t-shirt. Yes. You read that right. Shorts and a t-shirt. It was 55 degrees when it was below zero less than a week ago. Bizarre!
In the late afternoon I went out for run #2 (because I still needed 13k to complete the 40|80 challenge and I wasn’t going to have enough time to get in the miles on Sunday). At that time it was 30 degrees. Winter has returned but all of the snow melted.
With an easy 3.2 mile run, I completed the 40|80 challenge and hit my highest weekly mileage since July. It feels good to be back to my normal running.
Last week when I saw my chiropractor, he remarked about how my ankles and feet had just the right amount of flexion again. He even went as far as to tell me I was normal. Imagine that? Me. Normal. Ha!
Linking up with Hoho and Wendy for the weekly workout wrap up.
How was your week in workouts?
Was your weather bonkers too?
