Last Week’s Workouts

Last week's workouts |

What a difference a week makes.

For last week’s workouts round up, I was down in the dumps, thinking I’d never run again.

I still wasn’t running this week but the pain in my foot is completely gone (thanks to the crack-a-lackin’ skills of my chiropractor). My foot is feeling almost at 100%.  And my orthopedic gave me the ok to start running again just as long as it is on a treadmill so I don’t have to worry about making the deltoid ligament angry again while I get back into the swing of things.

And just like that, I’m back in the game.

45 minutes upright bike

My chiropractor did some wacky readjusting of my foot and I was good to go.  I’m still amazed that my foot got so out of wack that it made my ankle look swollen.

I also had PT where we worked on more agility ladder work and realized that I’m really uncoordinated or I have brain deficiets.  Either case, I was given homework to do as much single leg balance stuff as possible with my eyes closed.

30 minutes pool running

15 minutes kickboard

I made it to the pool one time this week.  I think that deserves a high five, right?

30 minutes Arc Trainer, 15 minutes Stepmill alternating 20 steps left, 20 steps right, 20 steps forward

Strength training upper body and core

TRX push ups

TRX bicep curl with squat

Battle ropes

KB plank row

Eccentric pull ups

Pull ups with band assistance

Barbell skull crush

DB bench press

TRX plank/side plank

TRX mountain climbers

TRX pike planks

Another PT visit with more agility work on the ladder and single leg balance on a trampoline with my foot on a yoga block.  Oh and my eyes are closed.  I could stand there all day with my eyes open.  Make me close my eyes?  I’m up to 12 seconds before I fall over.  And that’s taken a couple of weeks to accomplish.

KB traveling lunges

Step ups with raised knee (balance)

Side hops with knee raise (balance)

It was a rest day and when I say rest I mean rest from exercise.  We had a family photo shoot, my daughter’s last soccer game of the season and an Oktoberfest party. There wasn’t much exercise but there was a whole lot of sitting in a chair drinking  beer. #restdaybrags

It was another absolutely gorgeous weekend so I wanted to make sure we got one more hike in before the fall foliage was gone.  We tackled a new to us mountain and conquered 5 miles with breathtaking views.

And some very kind hikers who asked to take our picture as we rested because it was too perfect not to.  How nice is that?

Linking up with Hoho and Triciaand Jess/Jessfor the weekly workout wrap up.

How was your week in workouts?

  1. Yay for getting back to running!! Chiropractors are seriously amazing. I can definitely relate to the alignment stuff and Ive had times where i’ve gone in and just needed something popped back into place. I hope your return to running goes well!!

  2. Welcome back, heart! It looks like you try to get every bit of balance and strength to your whole body, and that’s AWESOME for you! Good luck with the whole eyes closed thing (coming from someone who’s very clumsy)!

  3. YAY!!!! So very happy to read this!!! See that? You just never know what the next week will bring. And yes, you deserve a high-five for the one day in the pool too. Have fun running back into the game this week!

  4. Chiropractors are so amazing! Glad your foot is feeling better and WOW you still did a ton of awesome strength work, impressive!

I’ve had really good luck with pool running, with regards to staying in shape…I don’t love doing it (it’s just not the same as running!) but somehow it works 🙂

    Good luck!

  5. Hooray for getting back into running! I hope your running goes well this week – and what a perfect time of year to be able to get back out there! That hike looks beautiful – I really hope to get in some good hikes before too much snow falls.

  6. yes! i definitely needed this. i need to get my butt into shape! thanks so much!

    love, rach.
please if you get the time, check out my blog and let me know what you think.
    So, hi.

  7. I am always so shy to ask people to take photos of us, so the fact that they volunteered is huge for me. And what a beautiful moment they captured x

  8. What fantastic news! I know you are excited to get back to running. I did a lot of stability work at PT last year, but I can’t remember them making me close my eyes. I’m pretty sure I would have failed miserably. That’s a beautiful hiking picture. Thanks for linking!
