Last Week’s Workouts

Last week's workouts |

Another week. Another week of last week’s workouts.

It seems like it’s been forever since I posted anything but it was super nice to just let the blog ‘be’ over the last 4 days.  It’s funny that there was once a time when I felt like I HAD to post all the time.  Long weekends are meant to be savored and not tied to the computer.

Or to be tied to the help desk at Apple.  It’s a super long ridiculous story but I locked myself out of my phone because I forgot the password to my Apple ID.  Apparently you can’t recover your password from email anymore but you need a “safe” number.  And apparently I never set up a safe number.  After being on the phone with 4 different customer service reps (and a supervisor), I was told it was going to be 3 days before I had access to anything tied to my Apple ID.  My life is with my phone.  Don’t be like me.  Set up a safe number now!

So let’s catch up on last week’s workouts.  It was a pretty awesome week in workouts.  Lots of trail time and I ran my first race post stress fracture.

Spoiler alert: it was so fun!

I got super annoyed with a woman at the gym who “claimed” a bench but did the majority of her workout elsewhere in the gym.  She wasn’t using it, so I started using it.  Once she saw me sit on the bench, she marched over to tell me she was still using it.  Not sure how you can be using it from on the other side of the gym but whatever.  I got up and thankfully another benched opened up.  What irked me even more is that she didn’t sit down to use the bench.  She used the decline bench NEXT to it!  One of my biggest gym pet peeves are people who hog the equipment.  It’s not your home gym people!

3 x 10 squats (squat rack)

3 x 20 single leg calf raises

3 x 20 split squats

3 x 10 DB bench press

3 x 10 single leg shoulder press

3 x 10 TRX Inverted Row

3 x 20 TRX plank pikes

30 minute run.  Running after squatting always feels fantastic.  I felt like Bambi for the first mile trying to figure out how my legs worked.

I had such a fun with trail run with Julie.  The plan was to run 35-40 minutes.  Actual: 50+ minutes because I got us turned around in a few places.  Whoops.  5 miles of dirt is always a good way to start the day.  And it was my first back to back runs since March. No pain and feeling great!

Thankfully I didn’t encounter bench hog today at the gym.

3 x 10 TRX Push Ups

3 x 20 second bar hangs (I’m in pull up training!)

2 x 10 band assisted pull ups

3 x 10 squats with 40 lb bar

3 x 10 side lunge with 30 lb bar

3 x 20 second rope pulls

3 x 10 pulley chest fly

3 x 10 pulley tricep extension

3 x 10 hammer strength pull downs

3 x 10 plank pikes

30 minute trail run with Ron.  He said he didn’t want to go running with me.  Somehow I always get my way.

40 minutes Stepmill

I didn’t have a ton of time at the gym and I didn’t want to trash my legs too much in anticipation for Sunday’s race. I did this circuit doing each exercise for 1 minute (side plank 30 sec each side).

Last week's workouts had this quick 20 minute BOSU strength workout. |

Rest day!

Loon Mountain Race – 6.8 miles (according to my Garmin), over 2200 feet vertical gain

I wasn’t sure I was going to do a full race recap on Loon since I technically wasn’t “racing”.  But I have so much to say about it that I think I might have to share more than just a few sentences. Here’s a brief synopsis – No pain at all, I felt stronger than I anticipated and it was SO FUN! Stay tuned for the full recap.

Linking up with Hoho/Tricia for the weekly workout wrap up and Coaches Corner and Wild Workout Wednesday.

How was your week in workouts?

  1. Can’t wait to read the full recap! And I couldn’t agree more about letting the blog “just be” over the long weekend. I too, used to get super stressed and felt like I HAD to post something…this year I took a break from it all and it was so much less stressful!!! Hope you have a great rest of your week 🙂

  2. Alex had a similar problem with is itunes account (it was linked to a now nonexistent email) and so he didn’t update things for like 1.5 years. Randomly, he was trying to get HBO go and it let him reset things. SO WEIRD. Also, why he refused to go to the apple store when it is literally AROUND THE SAME BLOCK AS THE HOSPITAL….

  3. I”m looking forward to your race recap! Looks like both of us made some pretty good strides! (pun intended!)

I loathe those hoggers–that woman at the gym? WTH? At yoga we have those spot savers–the ones who have to be in the same spot every week. A while ago, I set my mat down, not realizing that it was “saved”. I got a dirty look from one of the women, and I picked up and moved. Namaste over across the room….

  4. oh gosh…the iPhone thing. I can totally relate because I’m such a tech moron. I’m glad to have three tech-savvy kids (who are usually willing to help me, though there are a few eye rolls). And that chick at the gym? She needs to be smacked LOL

  5. I’m looking forward to hearing more about the race! It sounds like you’re really back to normal with your workouts. Yay!!

  6. Uh I hate gym people like that. Way to take the high road though and just let her be. And I feel ya with squats and running. I usually run after my heavy leg day and omg, the first mile is so hard.

  7. Great job on your race! It is always exciting when you exceed your own expectations.
That is SUPER ANNOYING about that lady at the gym. Seriously…that drives me insane. Good for you for actually going over and using her bench – I would’ve had trouble refraining from spitting out some sarcastic remark.
My week of workouts was pretty sporadic due to all of the 4th of July holiday festivities! We had a lot of family in town, so I spent a lot of time playing on the lake (which could be considered a workout)! My goal is to be a little more consistent with my workouts this week and I’m already off to a good start:
Monday – 40 min legs and abs workout
Tuesday – 2 mile walk/run with my dog and some wakesurfing in the morning
Wednesday – 3 mile walk with the dog and a 3 mile solo run

    Have a great day!

  8. How fun! Looks like you had such an awesome week!!

And thanks for the tip about the phone… I’ll have to do that ASAP.
