It’s Marathon Monday!!!
I’m so excited for everyone running the Boston Marathon today. All weekend I was happily scrolling through my social feeds getting more excited by the minute. I would have loved to have gone down to the expo to meet up with people but the weekend was full of kiddo sports and of course, yesterday was Easter.
Last week’s workouts were kind of mellow. I’m getting bored out of my mind on the bike trainer. Thankfully, the weather was absolutely gorgeous which helps so much with my attitude and outlook. What it doesn’t help with is that I miss running even more. I swear every runner within a 20 mile radius ran past my house yesterday. I was insanely jealous. This time of year is one of my favorites (ok, anytime of the year is my favorite time to run).
I have to keep reminding myself I’ll be out there soon enough. Patience is always a work in progress for me.
50 minutes bike trainer
20 minutes strength training with BOSU and Dynamax Ball
My left leg/fibula was kind of feeling achy on Monday. I’m not sure if it was from wearing rain boots while doing yard work over the weekend or what. It had me freaking out and wondering if I had done too much. I kept it easy resistance on the bike and focused on upper body strength and lower body stuff that kept me off my feet.
Morning Yoga Flow at Bending Bodhi
20 mile bike ride outside in the amazing sunshine
My leg/fibula was feeling a million times better when I woke up Tuesday morning. The sun was shining and the temp was above 80 degrees. I made a point of carving out time in my day for a 20 mile ride down to the bay. Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy.
45 minutes bike trainer
20 minutes strength
30 minutes Elliptical
Major glute workout at physical therapy
60 minute pool running
My appointment with my physical therapist today was all about building up my glute strength. I thought I was pretty good at doing all the right moves to fire those babies up but I’m still kind of week on the left side. Always a work in progress. Matt prescribed 7 glute specific exercises to me. Some I’ve been doing (monster walks, squats, lunges, split squats) but some were new. Let’s just say my buns were on fire. I’ve always been a quad dominant runner because my glutes are sleepy. I’m hoping that these exercises can help wake them up a bit.
30 minutes recumbent bike
I had an appointment with my massage therapist on Thursday. She had mentioned this thing called Egoscue during our last appointment. She had even sent me the YouTube video. I had looked at it briefly but thought it was stuff I already do. She brought it up again and said lots of her clients have used it and have found relief from foot and ankle pain. I’ve got nothing to lose, so why not. There’s only 5 stretches that take less than 5 minutes to do a day. The only problem is that I have to remember to them every day!
I had hoped to get a bike ride in but the day was packed with kid stuff in the morning and running errands in the afternoon. It’s funny how if I was running I would have made it fit into my day. Biking seems to take more planning than running.
20 mile bike ride
After a full morning and afternoon of Easter baskets, an egg hunt, brunch (And then taking a quick nap after brunch to sleep off the one Bloody Mary I had. Can you say lightweight?!?!), yard work and taking the kids to the park, I finally made it out on my bike for a ride. I keep telling myself that the sunshine and 80 degree weather isn’t going to last. It is only April after all. But I could definitely get used it if it wanted to stick around.
How was your week in workouts?
