Happy Monday everyone!
It’s a new week and I’ve got a new attitude. Cue Patti LaBelle -
Ooo, ooo, ooo, ooo, ooo! I’ve got a new attitude!
Anyway….
I’m not sure this week is going to be any better than last week but I’m going to try my hardest to think positive and move forward. Most importantly, I’m going to remember to breathe.
So many times last week I found myself taking shallow breaths or even holding my breath. As I did that, my shoulders inched closer to my ears, holding in the tension. It’s no surprise a headache soon followed. This week, I’m breathing long slow breaths!
Since it is Monday, I thought you all could use a little laugh to get the week started. To anyone who thinks I have it all together and am a SUPERMOM…She cooks. She meal plans. She bakes. She runs at 5 a.m. She has twins. She makes her own nut butter. Here is evidence that I, indeed, am a regular chick who is a scatter brain just. like. everyone. else.
Yup. I wore two different sneakers to work on Friday. I noticed it after I’d been at work for about 20 minutes. The good thing was that they were both sneakers and it was at least a left and a right. Like I said before, it was a LONG week!
After my return to running last Thursday, I couldn’t wait to get out again. Saturday morning I woke up to the balmy temperature of 8 degrees. Just a little chilly, right? I didn’t want to do the treadmill. Lately, the weekends have been the only time I’ve been able to enjoy the fresh air on a run or walk. It wasn’t even an option – outside it is. So I bundled up and headed out the door. It actually had warmed up to 10 degrees by then with the sun shining. Woohoo!
As I stared off, I was expecting to be cold but I wasn’t. I was very comfortable, in fact, which is odd for me. Even my face (the only exposed part of me) was fine. For someone who is freezing 99% of the time, this was really weird. I felt great the whole run. No knee pain (maybe it was numb from the cold?
) and feeling light. I reigned myself in from going too much too soon. I did an easy 5.5 miles.
Ever wonder what you would look after running in 10 degree weather?
It’s pretty obvious I didn’t need the reminder to breathe during this run. When I walked through the door, Ron and the kids started laughing and calling me Frosty. No wonder I was getting strange looks from cars passing me.
Here’s to a positive week! Don’t forget to just breathe.

Here’s to a better week than last!!! Love the frosty face!

LOL – I have almost done that with the shoes for a run. And a great reminder to breathe. Sometimes that’s all you can really do. I hope this week turns out to be a better one for you.

Thanks Heather!
I hope it’s a much better week! January in the north is the hardest month for me. Cold weather makes me grumpy. Too funny about the shoes! You’re still supermom, if you ask me.

Thank you! The shoe thing definitely was the running joke of the day. At least my kids had matching shoes that day!
Amen! Warm thoughts your way…

I remind myself all the time that I can’t do everything. These days it’s the meal planning that doesn’t happen. Although I do still make my own nut butter (thankfully that only needs to happen once a month or so
)
Love the frosty eyelashes, so glad it’s not me out there in the cold.
I hope this week gets better.

I have to laugh when I people exclaim that I make my own nut butter…it’s really not that difficult! Oh well…
Glad to hear you’re just a regular chick.
Although you’ve definitely got some badass running through those veins- I’m impressed!
haha! thanks!
I’m with you on the breathing!
I think you and I could have benefited from a coffee date

That would have been the perfect solution…one day!
Yes breathing is good. I can’t believe you ran in 8 degree weather. I am going to think of you when I complain that it’s 30 when I run. Love the frost on your eye lashes.

30 degrees would be magnificent right now! Jealous!
I think every Mom is a supermom. You all make it look easy. You all make every single day better. I thank the stars every day that my mom is still in my life, guiding me, providing for me – mentally, emotionally. I’ll never understand how you ladies do it. I only hope one day I can join your superhero club.

Ok, your preview post…shorts in January…that makes me sick!
I’m loving your mantra for the week! I hope this week is much better than last for you. Strong work on that run too! I’m thinkin’ you were getting a lot of strange looks because you were running and it was TEN degrees outside.

Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries recently posted..Rejuvenated
Maybe that was the reason.
I’m with you on it being a new week with a new attitude! Let’s make it a good week! And you’re adorable after your run. I can’t put makeup on that well,

ohmygosh I love that frosty picture!! So glad that you were able to get out. You are badass. Yes, I have to remind myself to just breathe all.the.time. Well, I’m hoping that the rest of the week is better than the weekend of sickies around here. Is winter done yet?

Here’s to a good week
Doesn’t it make you feel tough to run in the cold?! a trick for you, wear mascara or have lashes tinted and your lashes don’t freeze and break off.

Thanks for the great reminder. I totally kniw what you mean about finding that you take shallow breathes and then your shoulders are inching closer to your ears and then you end up with a headache! Great work on getting out there in the cold for a run!

I totally needed this reminder to breath! I do the same thing, hold my breath, take shallow breaths and the stress builds and builds. Love that chilly run photo!

I have never needed this post more than I did today! I actually have a post going up tomorrow about having a bad day and just taking time to reflect and move on! Here’s to a great week!

Loved the shoe story! At least they’re pretty similar looking.
I’m totally with you on the freezing 99% of the time, but I remember back when I lived in MN that I could run outside in single digits without any problem. Weird.
Hope your week is off to a great start!
