I’m very excited to be working with The Home Depot and receiving products to help start our vegetable and flower gardens this year. This is the second of a series of four sponsored posts written by me on behalf of The Home Depot. All opinions are my own.
First stop was to find the seed starter kit. There are lots of options and sizes. Our garden area isn’t the largest so we choose a 36 cell greenhouse kit. Very simple set up and we didn’t have to deal with anything too messy.
While we were browsing for kits, the kiddos spotted Disney character seed starting kits. Tomato seeds with Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse plus Princess Zinnia flower seeds? Of course we had to get those too.
Next up was the tough part – picking the seeds. I wanted one of everything and the kids did too.
There are so many different options to choose from plus a great selection of organic seeds.
Sweet peppers, Brussels Sprouts, watermelon, cucumbers, carrots, squash, beans, peas and lettuce are what we decided on planting in the kit. We’ve never tried to grow our own Brussels spouts or watermelon so it should be interesting to see how they do in our garden.
I have a wee bit of a brown thumb when it comes to keeping indoor plants alive. I’ve tried to have windowsill herbs before but they always seem to die. Having fresh cilantro, basil, oregano, chives and parsley at my fingertips for cooking sounds wonderful. I’m going to try one more time with this cute 5 Pot Herb Tree.
Fingers crossed everything survives till it’s warm enough to go outside!
Now it’s time to #DigIn and get our seeds started. Stay tuned for parts three and four coming in the next week.
