Holiday Favorites

‘Twas the night before Christmas…

The big day is almost here! Remember the last day of school before Christmas vacation? There’s so much excitement  in the air that teachers usually play a movie or something else because no one will be paying attention to geometry on that day. So to keep your attention, at least for a short period, here’s a fun Holiday quiz from Julie to keep things light and airy.

Favorite Holiday Cookie

My grandma’s Russian Tea Balls. Hands down my favorite – butter, powdered sugar, walnuts and vanilla. Simple yet delicious! She gave me the recipe but they don’t taste as good as hers. She just knows the recipe. Plus, when it’s made by grandma it’s that much more special! I made them last week and ate them so fast that no picture is available. #sorrynotsorry

Favorite Holiday Song

Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas.” It’s just so happy and upbeat!

I’ve also been loving Pandora’s ‘Rockin’ Holidays Radio’ since Thanksgiving. The kids have too. We’ll have an impromptu dance party to “Run, Run Rudolph” and “Jingle Bell Rock.”

Favorite Holiday Movie

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. We actually have a neighbor we call Ms. Griswold because she has so many regular outside lights that it blinds us. She turns ALL OF THEM on to let her dog out at 3 a.m. No wonder I’m awake at 4:30 every morning!

 Favorite Holiday Tradition

Growing up, it was attending Midnight Mass and then coming home to open one present each. Now, I’d have to say it’s one we started this year. An Advent Calendar full of fun things to do as a family everyday from December 1st to December 24th.

 Favorite Holiday Breakfast

Tie between cinnamon rolls or chocolate chip pancakes. This year we’re going with pancakes.

Favorite Holiday Meal

When I was young, I was very picky. I didn’t like much so my grandmother made it a point to make a Jell-o fruit salad for me. My favorite was lime with pears. Can’t remember the last time I had it. I don’t think I’d touch it now. Jell-o is just plain scary. I’m not sure what mine is now…time to find some new favorites!

Favorite Person to Shop For

This is going to sound horrible, but myself! It never fails whenever the Holiday deals come out, I find more stuff for myself than anyone else.

  1. I love to see your favorite movie. My husband is so offended that a list he saw somewhere didn’t have National Lampoons Christmas vacation on the list anywhere. It’s a classic. I also LOVE shopping for myself. I tell my husband every year what he got me. 🙂

  2. haha. That MY favorite person to shop for too! Me!! I love your advent calendar. That’s a big tradition in our house too but I love the idea of including things to do and experiences. Might have to steal that from you. White light for sure. And so many great holiday movies but I think that my favs are Love Actually, the Holiday, Family Stone and Elf. Merry Christmas to you and your family!!
