High Five Friday {Favorites Edition}

High Five Friday is here! I think I spent all of this week in a fog. One from the damn time change (I love it in the evening, hate it in the morning – so dark!). And two from trying to catch up from being gone all last week. I still have a mile long to-do list.

Rather than doing my usual High Five Friday post, I’m giving you High Five Friday {Favorites Edition}.

1. Manduka eKO Mat – I fell in love with Manduka yoga mats a couple of years ago. It does not slip or rip at all. It’s also eco-friendly made from non-Amazon harvested, natural tree rubber. Nothing brightened my day when it was bone chilling cold and snowing last month, than rolling out my bright sky blue and turquoise mat. If I couldn’t actually be swimming in turquoise water, at least I could imagine it!

2. Q’s Race to the Top – I’d love to say that my kids never back talk, whine, sass or throw temper tantrums.But you’d know I was lying. They are 4 1/2 after all. My kids LOVE board games. And stuffies. Combing the two is a fun way to teach EQ (or emotional) skills in children. According to the founders, these skills can lead to better behavior and academic scores and are likely to lead to life success in career, relationships, health and happiness. Who doesn’t want that for their kids? I was a little hesitant that my kids would like the game. But so far, we’ve played the game at least 5 times in the past 3 days. I’m amazed at their answers each and every time and how I can see the wheels turning in their heads.

3. Attune Foods Cereal – We are a cereal loving family. My kids love it in the morning. Ron and I love it for a quick snack. What I don’t love is how much extra junk is in a lot of cereal. I could spend hours in the cereal aisle reading every single label trying to find one with the least amount of ingredients and one that isn’t a sugar factory. Attune Foods Cereal – Uncle Sam’s, Erewhorn and Peace Cereal,  fit the bill. And don’t worry. None of them taste like cardboard. Just pure delicious yumminess.

4. Tales from Another Mother Runner – On Monday, I had the pleasure of hanging out with some of my BRF (best running friends) and a packed room of #BAMR’s (bad ass mother runner) in Andover, MA for a stop on the Tales of Another Mother Runner tour. I loved Dimity and Sarah’s first two books. The third does not disappoint. In every essay written by fellow mother runner’s, I find a little piece of myself. I nod in agreement. I laugh because that has happened to me too. Except for the naked 5k essay. I WILL NEVER DO THAT! It was so great to finally meet Dimity. Of course we had to chat about our mutual love of Saucony and how we continuously find our strong. If you haven’t read any of their books, DO IT NOW!

5. Run Far, Run Strong – The amazing, Sarah, has graciously offered to donate a portion of all sales of any Boston Blue and Yellow from the RunFarShop.com to Girls on the Run to help with fundraising for Team Stonyfield. Sarah was asked to be on the team with us but she will be running her own marathon around race day aka giving birth to kiddo #3!

For the remainder of this month, until April 20th Sarah will make a donation for every Blue or Yellow item sold in the shop. Please help raise support for the amazing Girls on the Run program. And you can look good doing it!

And don’t forget you can still donate to my fundraising page for Girls on the Run!

  1. That yoga mat is just beautiful! And what a fun game for the kids. I wish it had been around when mine were younger.

    Now I know that you must be kind of tall, because you don’t look all that short next to Dimity!

    1. Dimity and Sarah are both super tall. I had 2 inch heels on and still felt short. Maybe I was standing on my tip toes in the pic match up with Dimity and Kailey. I’m only 5’6″!

  2. I’m so jealous that you got to go to the AMR reading and in Andover too (I went to high school there)! I do need to read their books. I’ve recently started listening to their podcasts. Love that Sarah is donating to GOTR – might be a reason I need to go buy one of those hoodies! Happy Friday friend!

  3. I always think the hardest part about being gone is the “re-entry” and it is so much worse after an unplanned trip. Hopefully you will have time over the weekend to get caught up and relax some!

  4. Belated condolences to your family. I know what you’re going though – my mother in law, and father in law both passed away in December, unexpectedly -just 6 days apart. It’s tough. Hugs to your family!
    That’s so great that you got to go to see the Another Mother Runner ladies! I just love them and their books. I was hoping they would have a tour stop close by me, but nothing yet. I am looking forward to their new book. Also, those shirts are really nice, and helping out GOTR is an added bonus. Looking to buy one right now!
