High Five Friday {Boston Marathon}

High Five Friday is here!

3 days people. T-H-R-E-E days! What seemed like it was eons away is now becoming real. I still can’t believe I’m running the Boston Marathon. The past week has been a roller coaster of ups and downs of emotions. At times I even forget that I’m running a marathon. Others, it’s all I can think of. I’m excited, nervous and just ready to run!

Since I’m having a hard time concentrating on one thing right now, I’m just going to give you the highs and lows of the week so far.

Highs of the week:

My parents are here! This is the first time they have spectated ANY marathon. The whole logistics of navigating Boston with an extra 500,000 spectators has them a little nervous. Especially when it comes to wrangling my kids. Would leashes be appropriate? At least they’ll have Ron with them. He’s an old pro at spectating.

My race day outfit is set! I’ve sweated in my Stonyfield singlet on multiple runs with no weird chaffing issues. The weather forecast keeps changing every 2 seconds (and driving me nuts), but I’m 99% sure I’ll be wearing my Saucony Bullet Tight Short. The big pockets are perfect for stuffing my Huma Gels in.

Boston Marathon Expo! I’m heading down with a group of friends to the expo Friday afternoon. I can’t wait to shop and to just soak it all in.

Lows of the week:

I dropped a frozen burrito on my foot. Seriously. Only I would have the bad luck of getting a huge bruise on the top of my foot days before running 26.2 miles. Thankfully, it does not hurt or impact my running at all.

Arch/heel pain. On Tuesday I wore flip flops all day. It was the first time I’ve worn them since Hawaii. Later than night, the arch and heel of my left foot started to hurt. Ugh, really? Flips flops cured my Achilles Tendinopathy back then. I thought it was all good? I did the usual stretch and ice. I also did the KT Tape thing. It’s feeling better and I have sworn off flip flops till after Monday. It’s a good thing I have a vast collection of sneakers.

My first gray hair. Really? I don’t even know what to say about that. Not cool. Not cool at all.

This weekend is going to be full of fun and all things running. It’s practically my dream weekend! On Sunday Team Stonyfield is getting together for the first time. I’m so excited to meet the whole team, but especially THIS GIRL after over 3 years of being bloggy friends!

You can keep up with all my adventures this weekend and on Marathon Monday by following along on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

Ready or not, here I go!

  4. Yes I am so annoyed with the forecast! I am packing for both situations; dry or rainy! I went ahead and bought cheap ponchos for both myself and my spectating boyfriend ๐Ÿ™‚

    Good luck!!

  5. I CANNOT wait to finally meet and hang out!! Crazy on the flip flops/arch… always something the week before a marathon in the taper craziness, but hopefully you’ll be feeling great race day morning. Oh and good news- my eyes are feeling much better! Whew!

  6. Damn those burritos! NO frozen food for you until Tuesday. Sending you all of my love– I’m going to stay away from it all on Monday- it hurts my heart too much, but I want you to know that I will be sending you fast and safe thoughts and don’t be surprised if you hear from me late Monday afternoon. Love you my beautiful friend! xoxo

  7. I did something similar to my foot last week. I immediately freaked out but luckily it was just a bruise and only bothered me for one run then it went away and I didn’t have any problems running on it….use Arnicare to clear the bruise faster!!! Good luck to you at Boston. I will be sending lots of positive thoughts your way. Can’t wait to hear all about it very soon.

  8. So excited for you – best of luck at Boston! It’s so exciting that your parents and family can watch you and cheer you on!
I had to laugh at your comment about putting your kids on leashes because I had a child leash when I was really little. My runner tendencies started early I guess and I would never stay in one spot!
