High Five Friday

This post was created in partnership with Citiยฎ. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Hellooooooo Friday!

What a week! It started off relatively calm until I got home from work Monday evening. Let’s just say Cooper was having some digestive issues after breaking into the food cupboards (again!). Two area rugs, a down comforter and countless number of cleaning tools later, we were free of all the poo that was tracked through the house. The childproof locks are definitely back on the cabinets now!

It’s high five Friday so let’s start slapping some skin!

  1. We got slammed with a huge snowstorm Wednesday. I always love when the day after a storm is a gorgeous, sunny, blue sky type of day. Makes all the snow just a little bit more bearable. I’m still counting down till Spring though.
  2. This pic is from the day before the storm. Notice the almost bare patio? Not so bare anymore…
  3. I’m absolutely loving this dairy free “cheese” sauce on everything. It’s good on everything and is so easy to make with only 5 ingredients. The “Nooch” wins again!
  4. A desperately needed closet purge. I’ve been really, really hating on all my clothes lately. I finally decided enough was enough. I got rid of things that I had not worn in a year, had stains and I just did not like. Now I just need to replenish what’s gone. The only problem? I’m sick of looking at winter clothes but I don’t want to buy clothes that I won’t wear for many more months. #firstworldproblems, huh?
  5. Eagle Pose – I love how this pose twists and compresses the whole body. Great for opening up tight shoulders and upper back from typing and sitting.

5 Things

  • Countless Uses for Coconut Oil – I’m not a huge fan of coconut flavor but I love using coconut oil and coconut flour. Who knew you could use it as a deodorant or for head lice? Not that I have head lice or anything.
  • 12 Priciest Fitness Classes – Spinning + swimming. Spring resistance + Barre. These classes sound awesome but I don’t think I’d spend up $60 a class. Have you done any on the list? If so, do tell!
  • 37 Life Lessons in 37 Years – My birthday is coming up next month. I’ve been thinking of making a bucket list that I want to accomplish in the next year. Just like My Reverse Bucket List, I love how this looks back at your life so far rather than jumping ahead. Don’t be surprised if you see a list like this in the near future from me. Except it’ll be 36 not 37. Let’s not speed up the aging process at all.

  • The Winter Olympics are here! I can’t wait to see all my favorites – downhill skiing, ice skating, speed skating and of course the ever exciting curling. Last week I posted a link about the rising amount of injuries in yoga as well as skiing and snowboarding. Olympic Gold Medalist, Picabo Street is joining the Stay on the Slopes Initiative in educating people on injury prevention and recovery by providing funds for testing equipment, exercise machines and other technology. Citi”s Every Step of the Way program wants to help more potential athletes. It’s got $500,000 that it will donate to one of many initiatives in need. Check it out and you can help decide!

One more thing – Today is Go Red for Women! Wear anything red to help spread awareness of women and heart disease.

What would you like to high 5 today?
What Winter Olympic Sport are you most excited to watch?

  1. We were slammed with snow here too! Because of it, I’ll have to do loops of my ‘hood to get in my long run today. It’s better then the ‘mill, right?
I’m in desperate need of a closet clean-out! You may have motivated me to do it this weekend.
My birthday is coming up in March. I love the idea of “looking back” and I really loved doing the reverse bucket list.
You’re just a wealth of good ideas here today my friend!! Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. So much love in this post! It is a great! Eagle pose is my favorite, I really enjoy it, and enjoy the feeling of untwisting! We got hit hard with snow too, agree its beautiful…..but it is making running so difficult! I think yesterday was the worst day where it had started ti melt, but had frozen over, it was impossible to run on the sidewalk…..but then a school bus (?!!?) tried to mow me down!! It was actually really scary!

As for coconut oil, I LOVE it, but I have SUCH a hard time getting the lid off!!!!! 90% of the time I literally cannot unscrew the cap, as it softens and hardens again with the temperature in my apartment! I need a strong man to open that cap, cause right now I cannot use it!!! Any tips for that haha?

  3. Nooch is always a winner in my book! And I read that treadmill myths. I still think my form goes to crap on the ‘mill though. I can feel myself striding out like I never do on the road. I think it’s b/c I’m not controlling the movement as much?

  4. FRIDAY!!! The day I have been waiting for since Sunday night! ha ha
Poor Cooper…POOR YOU!!! Our old dog used to have issues with barfing all the time {I know, totally different than poop}, but we somehow trained her to only barf on the linoleum floors. Still gross cleaning their stuff up. ;-/
I can’t wait to watch the Opening Ceremonies tonight!

  5. I’m leaving to ski for the weekend, so I will remain ignorant and not read that post about injuries!

I love purging my closet–it feels so good. But I’m with you–who wants to buy winter clothes now? Sick of it!

You look great in all your yoga poses!

    1. We were planning on snowboarding next week but I’m so freakin’ freezing 100% of the time now that it doesn’t even sound appealing. Maybe it will get tropical again soon….

  6. I’m super excited about the Olympics – started watching the first stuff last night and can’t wait for the Opening ceremony later tonight!!!
Not excited about the foot plus of snow and single digit temps with predictions of more snow and cold – oh, well can’t change it!

  7. you are right no reason to speed up the age process lol I dread that in a few short years I will have to deal with a 5 instead of 4 # tough stuff! It always feels good to shed some stuff and free up closet space ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. I just have to say I am seriously jealous of your closet purge. I really have to do that and just be ruthless. And then I will have to go out and buy some new clothes! It was a little embarrassing showing a friend my wardrobe on the weekend to help pick an outfit for a job interview – she looked at me and said “you really need to go shopping”.
