High Five Friday

High Five Friday is here again!

I share more pictures on Instagram. I’d love for you to follow me!

1. My little yogi’s. They saw me taking pictures for prAna #bringingyogaback and wanted to jump in. See? Yoga is a universal language! You can still get 15% off your prAna order with my code psps15HFM at checkout.

2.Endless cold weather calls for belly warming chowdah.

3.Thursday’s 10 miler (on the treadmill again!) was definitely the hardest run I’ve had to do so far in marathon training. Mentally I was not into it. I was tired. I was sore. Physically, I was hitting the paces, but everything in my brain was telling me to just stop running. I’m constantly having to work on my mental game.

4. Downward facing dog that looks more like my head is stuck in a snowbank. Asana.

5. An upside to all the miles that I run on the treadmill? I can at least dress like it’s summer.

5 Things

1. Marathon Motivators – I told you my reason Why I Run. We all have our own story. Be inspired by the stories of why these runners want to run a marathon.

2. Glute Strength Workout – Fire up those buns with this workout. I have been doing a TON of glute strength exercises lately. The good news is that it’s working. Do these!

3. How Football Taught 12 Year Olds What it Means to Be a Girl – Can girls be tough and feminine at the same time? The best response – “Yeah… Duh!”

4. Real Runners Do Take Walk Breaks – Think walking during a marathon will slow you down? Not so says this article. You actually can finish at the same time as someone who runs the whole race.

5. 10 Things NOT to Say to An Injured Runner – I’ve been there. You’ve been there. Please don’t say these to a runner. BTW – this is one of my latest articles for RunHaven.

What would you like to high five today?

  1. 10 on a treadmill would really do me in, so I am impressed. Hang in there…a break HAS to be coming!

Just checked out the article on glute exercises…yep, I do most of them. Single-leg deadlifts are my favorite move!

  2. One of the things I love most about running on the treadmill is the fact that I just need shorts and a sports bra – way less laundry than running outside right now would require!!!

  3. Thanks for sharing the Run Haven link! I am 9 days injured and counting with Piriformis syndrome. I led boot camp last night by some miracle, and I had a participant ask me if I do yoga. Yes. If I had done yoga, my 8-month-pregnant butt would not hate me right now. Le sigh.

Once I can do more without screaming (presumably post baby), I plan to do more glute exercises. I loved the plan/schedule RW has in its current issue.

  4. The mental toughness you’re building pushing through those treadmill runs is going to be huge for the marathon. Every mile counts! Let’s just hope we get a break from the cold soon. And that chowder looks amazing…is the recipe on your blog?
