High Five Friday

Ahhh Friday! You are always welcome. I had a short work week again but I still love Friday.

How ’bout a high five Friday of all things I’m loving right now? Big thanks to Tina for giving me the inspiration for this.

Five Instagram Pics

  1. Beans, beans the magical fruit! Stay tuned for a new chili recipe coming your way next week.
  2. Winter sunrises. The cold air makes for some absolutely stunning sunrises.
  3. Little kids shoes are just too cute. My daughter is absolutely loving her Nike’s. She is super excited to show off her speed skills during the kiddos first indoor soccer practice Saturday.
  4. I completely forgot I owned this shirt. Nothing like a little self promotion, huh?
  5. After frigid temps for days, it felt amazing to be outside in “tropical” temps of 30 degrees last Sunday. We spent the morning walking in the woods and sledding. I forgot how much of a workout sledding can be, especially when you pull a 35+ pound toddler in a sled.

Five Fun Things

  1. After 7 months, I am finally getting my hair cut. I’m holding myself to one of my goals for the year. Self care will happen! Maybe I’ll be really crazy and add in a pedicure finally.
  2. My skin takes a beating with endless handwashing at work and home. I’m loving Trader Joe’s Coconut Body Butter. It’s super affordable, thick but not greasy. My hands are still dry but this keeps them comfortable for a lot longer than most lotions.

3. New running shoes! I wanted another pair of sneakers to rotate with my Mizuno Wave Rider 17s. My Saucony Guide 6’s were in dire need of retirement (hello baby toe sticking out the side!). I completely forgot that the Outlet shops near me have a Saucony store. I scored a serious deal – $75 for a shoe that I would have paid $120 at another store. Bam!

4. Kabocha squash and massaged kale. I’m living on that stuff right now.

5. I’m working on a new blog design. I’ve been wanting to change things for a very long time and now it’s finally going to happen! Stay tuned for a new and improved HFM.

  1. Nice score on the shoes! Those were all great pics. I’m finding I am eating more beans than ever right now. They are so versatile! And the smoothie recipe sounds amazing–I need to shake my smoothies up a bit.

    Happy Friday!

  2. Sometimes we have parallel lives – I am getting my haircut, just got new kicks Saucony Ride 6’s, I am working on a new blog design, just wrote a post with my favorite fitness finds for the winter, and I am ecstatic that it is FRIDAY!

  3. Little kids shoes are the best! I just bought my 20 m/o some Pumas, and they are adorable. I want then in my size. I got out for a much-needed trail run on Wed. After the brutal temps Mon & Tues, 30 degrees felt tropical! But there was still snow on the trails & the lake was partially frozen. It was beautiful! Can’t wait to see your new blog design!

  4. Aww what a lovely post! I agree 100% about the winter sunrises, they are BEAUTIFUL! I dont know about you, but coming back from those cold winter runs gives a much bigger sense of satisfaction and a rush of endorphins than summer runs. I love it! Thats funny you mentioned about the self care! I want to focus on this more this year, I actually got a pedicure while I was at home (I had wanted one since before my marathon but I was warned off), it was definitely worth it…go for it! Hope you have a happy friday ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. I swore I was going to get a pedicure after my marathon in May as my “reward” for training and finishing. Well, that never happened. I think I earned it but it just never happened. Why does life get in the way of my pampering time? ๐Ÿ˜‰

  5. I love a bargain on my favorite shoes (or anything for that matter).
And I just made crock pot chili last night – the perfect thing on a cold winter night!!!
Enjoy your haircut – you should turn it into a whole spa trip!!!
