Happy High Five Friday!

5 from Instagram

1 ) After being a mom for almost 8 years, you’d think I’d have eyes in the back of my head and I would have known this was happening. #epicphotobomb

2 ) Where the streets have no name

3 ) The summit at Gunstock Mountain always has the best view of Lake Winnipesaukee.

4 ) We had snow/freezing rain/ice/rain on Tuesday.  It was absolutely disgusting.  Can we just get snow please? It did make things really beautiful on the trails on my run days later.  Although I kept thinking I was going to be impaled by an ice spike falling off the trees. And big thanks to my Kathoola Microspikes.  No falls while running on shear ice.  Even down hill.  Boom!

5 ) Snowshoe running tip: layer up your bum.  It’s going to get snowy and cold!

5 good reads

1 ) Running towards self acceptance – It’s always refreshing to read about what the power of running can do for someone.  Kelly’s story is one of those that proves running is way more than just running.

2 ) Dark Side of the Run – Even though I have been an early morning runner for years, when I had to do a 2 a.m. run on a back country road for Reach the Beach a few years ago, it had me in a panic.  To me, running in the dark at night is way different than running in the dark in the morning. But you know what?  That 2 a.m. run for RTB was magical!  It was my favorite leg of the race.

3 ) Late Bloomers Who Prove Runners Only Get Better (and Better!) with Age – Age is just a number.  The incredible thing about the majority of these master runners?  They didn’t start running until middle age or later.  Looking to join them?  Here’s some new runner tips!

4 ) Rapid Ascent of the World’s Highest Volcano and Part 2: To the Summit and Down – I had been following Magda Boulet’s training for climbing Ojos de Salado, a stratovolcano located in the Atacama Desert region of northern Chile on Instagram. It’s a 22,615-foot, snow-capped volcano that takes most climbers 0-13 days to reach the summit.  But Magda and her fellow GU coworker planned to summit it in only five days. It’s so cool to see sample workouts that prepared them for the climb (800x weighted steps ups up on an 18 inch box anyone?) and the obstacles they encountered along the way.

5) Hang 20? Hilarious Photos of California’s Best Surfing Dogs – Unrelated to anything but I can’t resist a cute dog.  I think the Beans the Whippet is my favorite.  His expression is priceless but then again I think Whippet’s always have that look on their face. :)

What would you like to High 5 today?

  1. I love the cat photo bomb and the surfing dogs! Ollie is reading over my shoulder to look at the surfing dogs with me lol. We’re supposed to have rain this weekend in the mountains and I really, really hope the forecast changes so we can ski. Have a great weekend!
