1 ) Motherhood: Rediscovering My Wild – I think it’s something every mother has felt.  We have a child, we lose a part of ourselves because it becomes much bigger than us.

2 ) 101 Year Old Breaks World Running Record – I’m sure there was some stiff competition in this age bracket.  Lol!  But seriously, how cute is she? Life goals for sure.

3 ) Cats, Goats, and Downward Facing Dog. The Options are Endless for Yoga with a Twist – I’m all for trying new things but come on.  Baby cats and goats are cute but I don’t want them crawling all over me while I’m doing yoga.  Can’t we just play the them after class?

4 ) Why a Runner’s Identity Crisis Can Be a Good Thing – This post from Laura hit home with me.  I’m back to running now but when I was injured for 8+ weeks, I yearned to run but I also found the bright side to things.  I missed lifting heavy at the gym.  I found the pool.  Even now that I’m back to running, I have zero desire to train for or run a road marathon.  It’s funny how we get tunnel vision of what we are “supposed” to be doing.  There’s so many options out there!

5 ) The Trail Grit in My Shoe – On the same day that I read this article, a discussion among friends who had run VT100 last weekend was brought up on the very same topic. For the VT100, there’s acknowledgements for Top 10 Men and Top 5 Women. Wait? What? Why are less woman acknowledged?  It should be the same regardless of gender.  Do Top 10 or Top 5 across the board. Let’s get with the times!

  1. I’m going through a forced running sabbatical (3 weeks down and counting….), and it’s been a lot easier than I’d thought. I have ZERO pressure (self-imposed) to rally back and attempt any PR’s in 2017 (whew!). I’m also glad I have other things in my life (besides running) to keep me fit. I pity those who run and do nothing else…if they ever get injured (and usually they do because they don’t do anything else LOL), they may be headed towards an identity crises 😉

  2. I can really relate to Laura’s article too! When I was taking a break from running due to injuries, seeing someone else running would make me absolutely miserable…all I wanted to do was go home, put on my running stuff, and get out there. I had to really convince myself that sitting this one out would help me in the long run and now that I’m back to running I’m still pain-free :)
