High Five Friday

Happy High Five Friday!

5 from Instagram

1 ) Some may say I’m running away from things.  I think I’m running towards my true self.  And losing my head in the process. Lol!

2 ) A #flashbackfriday from the Fall.  I’m taking a week off from running to rest my foot and ankle.  We’ll see what happens after then. I’m trying to be optimistic but it’s freaking hard.

3 ) Plank rows #ftw.

4 ) Dishing out high 5’s for International Women’s Day to all the kick ass lady runners out there!

5 ) I’m pretty sure these waffles will be happening again this weekend.

5 Things

1 ) Reading, Writing, Running: Lessons from the Trails to the Classrooms – Love this post about the lessons learned from running.  It’s focused on kids but I think it’s quite universal no matter what the age. “Long distance running teaches us that the first mile is a liar, and anything worth doing is going to challenge us, and that it is in the challenges that we grow. Running changes our “I can’t” inner voice to an “I can” and “I DID!”.

2 ) Road on the Road: Smile Miles – Now this is running with intention…the intention to smile and be grateful.

3 ) What I Discovered After My Year in Space – There’s no way in hell you’d ever find me in space, but I loved the lessons that Scott Kelly learned in his 340 days circling earth.

4 ) Silverton Mountain Breeds Tough Women – This past Wednesday was International Women’s Day and this article shows that bad ass ladies are everywhere.  May we know them. May we be them.  May we raise them.

5 ) Stray Dog Follows Adventure Race Team for 430 Miles – Dogs are crazy.  Dogs are awesome.  Make sure you watch the video.  And grab some tissues.

What would you like to High 5 today?

  1. LOVE the picture of all of us at the retreat – of course!!! Cannot wait to read the piece by Scott Kelly because I have this odd affinity for him and you would never find me in space either…I can barely fly on earth!!
And I will arm myself with tissues and watch the dog video because….secret surprise…I’m getting a dog this weekend!!!!! I’m beyond excited! We’re surprising the boys so don’t tell them 🙂 I’m going to need all your advice!!
    Have a great weekend mama!

  2. Love the headless running to find yourself shot! Scott and Mark Kelly are pretty amazing. They grew up in the town we now live in, so their school does a lot to recognize them. And I heard them speak at a Shaklee conference since he used natural vitamins to keep his body in the best shape possible with all the stress from space.. I cannot image an entire year in space! As Allie, said, I can hardly handle flying!

  3. I loved the story about the stray day following the ultrarunners. I once had a stray dog follow me for a few miles of a trail race when I was deep in the woods. It was kind of hysterical and the dog was having a blast!

    1. How can you not get teary eyed at that dog? Wouldn’t you love to know what was going on in his head as he followed the team? And now that he’s got a cushy life in Sweden? SO awesome!

  4. i am SOOO thankful for your high 5 fridays- you hve the best pics AND articles! I appreciate this EACH WEEK! tonight it is my little “luxury” for myself to read these!

  5. I sprained my ankle awhile back and was so worried about it. I hope yours gets better soon, I hate those niggles.

I hope you had a great weekend!
