Happy High Five Friday!

5 from Instagram – I share more pics on Instagram. Are you following me? Please do!

1 ) 8 miles of blue skies and a ferocious headwind that was always in my face no matter what direction I went. How is that possible?

2 ) Chairlift riding with the fam. My death grip game is strong when on that thing! And why do kids have zero fear of it???

3 ) Blueberries from heaven. The only thing better is if it was summer and I picked those straight off the bushes in my backyard. YUM!

4 ) There’s nothing quite like running hill repeats in the dark during a snowstorm. I’d love to hear the narrative of those that saw Lori and I that morning. Lol!

5 ) Throwing it back to warm summer nights and sunset yoga hikes. I can’t wait to do that again.

5 Things

1 ) My Letter to Every Girl Who Plays Sports – and Her Parents – This week we celebrated National Girls and Women in Sports Day.  To most of us, it’s all we’ve ever known. Girls have always been allowed to play sports. But really, we were only granted that “right” not that long ago. I’m thankful everyday for those trailblazing women who paved the way for us and future generations.

2 ) Impressive Bullet Journal Designs Runners Are Using – Have you jumped on the Bullet Journal train?  I want to but the details overwhelm me and sound like a huge time suck. But these Bullet Journal’s? Downright pretty!

3 ) I Hate Running – I love this piece so much. Why? Because it’s so true. Or at least I’ve had probably every single one of those thoughts at some point in time. So let’s go running!!

4 ) What Would It Sound Like if Men Got the Same Lame Advice We Give to Working Moms? – Need a laugh? Enjoy the ridiculousness.

5 ) Failure is Success – As I’m training for a marathon again after the big DNF in 2015, I’ve got this failure and fear cloud hanging over me constantly. I wish I could wipe it away and forget about it but it’s always in the back of my head. I’m trying to push it away as a negative experience and more of using it as fuel to the fire within to train harder and smarter. This is perfect -> “we get to decide which parts of our past define our present.”

Today is Go Red for Women! Make sure you wear your red!

What would you like to High 5 today?

  1. It’s so hard to shake past failures … but your training has been really smart, safe building and I’m sure you’re on hyper alert for any aches/pains along the way. If you get to the start line without those, you can pretty much guarantee you’ll be good to go!!

  2. I death grip the chairlift also! It’s terrifying and yet all of the kids in line by me go on it no problem, while I have a mini panic attack each time. The Trail Sister post is a great read and so, so true – fear of failure can hold us back more than failure itself can.
