Hello High Five Friday!

5 from Instagram – I share more pics on Instagram. Are you following me? Please do!

1 ) It’s only cold if you are standing still. My winter running motto…15 degrees doesn’t really feel that cold. Find my ‘what to wear’ winter running tips HERE.

2 ) Meet the newest member of our pack, Nevada! I caved in the constant pressure from my kids (and Ron) to finally get a cat. I’m so glad I did! Nevada is an absolute love bug and has adapted so well in 5 short days. She doesn’t mind Cooper, loves to snuggle (she’s sitting on my lap as I’m typing this) and acts more like a dog than a cat. She’s perfect! Oh and don’t ask me how she got her name. That’s what they named her at the NHSPCA and the kids wanted to keep it.

3 ) 10 miles on a Thursday morning before sunrise? Why not.

4 ) Basement workouts aren’t glamorous but they will keep me strong and running injury free.

5 ) A #tbt – Hawaii running after the Honolulu Marathon. How is it that it was 2 years ago already?

5 Things

1 ) I won the Millinocket Marathon, but that wasn’t the goal. – Last week I shared the story of the man who came up with the idea of the Millinocket Marathon. This week, here from the winner of the race. From what I’ve heard from those who ran the race, it was brutal. The weather was not nice – single digits not including the wind chill. One guy said it was the hardest thing he’s ever done. And this is someone who has done a full Ironman. The funny thing is that 2017 registration opened up this past Monday. There’s already over 1200 people registered! That is awesome.

2 ) Why You Shouldn’t Fear Mistakes – I’m guilty of not wanting to mess up and look like I don’t know what I’m doing. But the old saying, “you learn from your mistakes” is absolutely true.

3 ) 14 Thoughts Every Runner Has on a Cold Run – In honor of the butt numbing temperatures that have hit the majority of the country, I thought this was very appropriate.

4 ) Run Your Race – I have fallen hard for this new to me blog – Trail Sisters. Great stories. Great writing. Check it out!

5 ) Weird, Unexpected Things That Happen When You Run – I love that CNN shared tips on mid run poops and “jogger nipples”. Breaking news.

What would you like to High 5 today?

  1. Congrats on the new addition and I kinda love her name!
All your reads this week are new to me so I can’t wait to dive in…especially to a new blog with great writing…about running.
And I LOLed at “breaking news” I mean, seriously? HA!
Have a great weekend…try to stay warm!

    1. She’s such a love. I’ve been a ‘dog lady’ for so long that I didn’t really think I’d love having a cat. But Nevada acts like a dog so it’s like I’ve got a dog/cat which works for me!
