5 ) The running version of the Rockettes. I traveled 40 minutes to meet up with the Sarah’s (Sarah C. and Sarah E.) for a lovely long run last weekend. I’m glad that I could hook the two of them up so they can run together but I’m very sad (and jealous) that I wasn’t closer. Sarah E. was my running buddy during Boston training. She moved last year so we can’t run together as much as before. Hopefully I’ll be able to meet up with them at least once a month or so this winter for long runs.

1 ) What if the race was never the goal – I loved this post from Jana. I’m not even sure how I stumbled upon it since it was the first time I’ve read her blog. When we set a goal race and pour our heart and soul into achieving that goal, what happens if we don’t achieve that? Are we a failure? Maybe achieving x:xx time wasn’t the goal. Maybe it was the connections that you made, the “stuff” in your life that you needed to get through at that time. Flip the perspective and spin it towards the good.

2 ) The Subversive Joy of a Late-Night Hash Run in NYC – In all honesty, my first thought when seeing this headline was that it was about running while on drugs. Spoiler alert: it’s not about drugs. I now want to try a Hash Run. Sounds like fun!

3 ) 16 Ways Running is There for You – I know I’ve relied on running in the past week to sort out thoughts and feelings related to the election and it’s after effects. It’s my time for sorting it all out. I may not come up with a solution but at least I can let thoughts run as they will.

4 ) Why I Hate the Term Clean Eating – I admit that I fell for the clean eating term a couple of years ago. Sarah makes a good point – what exactly does “clean” mean? It means something different for everyone. To me, I think it means to eat minimally processed food. To someone else, it could mean only eat Paleo. I love this – “I’m just asking you not to freak out over clean eating, or lack thereof. You are WAY more than that, and so is your health!” Very true.

5 ) Why You Should Put Down Your Phone and Let Yourself Feel Bored – I’m completely guilty of multi-tasking with my screen. I’ll be watching TV or on the computer and looking at my phone as well. Or when I’m killing time before an appointment, I’ll put out my phone to scroll through social media. What did I do before my iphone? Read a magazine. Let myself sit and think in silence. I need to do this more often. And I think I’m not alone.

  1. We are getting the last of the nice fall temps this morning (and literally the wind is blowing them right out of here) and then it is going to be 40s tomorrow with potential for flurries. JOY. I’m not ready–let’s keep that fall color a bit longer, yes?

  2. So fun that you got to run with the Sarahs! I really enjoyed Sarah’s post on clean eating and will have to read the others ones as well. We got our first frost and while I’m excited for the snow in the mountains, like you I’m sad to see the last of the leaves fall soon.
