Hi everyone! I’ve got a great guest post from Khristine for you all today. She’s showing the Mama’s that it is possible to get your body back after baby and along the way you may find a love of fitness! Enjoy!
My name is Khristine, I blog over at BeautyAndTheBrute.com. It’s a fitness & beauty blog that I share with my Husband (who mainly just does the fitness portion as well as does some fitness videos on our shared YouTube Channel). I’m a 26 year old Mother of 3 girls, ages 6 Years old, 4 Years old (they are actually 19 months apart) and lastly our newest bundle of joy, just turned 4 months old. I’m currently an LVN going back to school for my BSN in Registered Nursing. I’m a fitness junkie and beauty/makeup addict at heart. I love all aspects of fitness and love trying new things.. from weightlifting, to yoga.. i love switching it up and pushing my body to it’s limits!
I actually was never always a fitness junkie, I actually am new to fitness. I have only been weightlifting for about 2 years (on and off). Before this, I was your typical girl who tried the latest yo-yo diets and always wanting the easy way out. I would be happy with crash dieting for special occasions (like to fit into a dress for a wedding etc).. but found that to be too exhausting on my body. I was never really happy with how I looked and hated how I couldn’t keep up with my children and luckily for me – My husband introduced me to the fitness lifestyle and showed me the way.
In the past, after pregnancies.. I wouldn’t think about exercising.. but I got hit with Post Partum Depression.. HARD after my 2nd pregnancy (I did experience a mild case of PPD after my first, but wasn’t nearly as bad as after my 2nd pregnancy). I’m so thankful that I had the support of my husband and family to really get me through such hard times that I don’t ever want to relive or wish on anyone. But I’m proud to say that I’m 4 months out from my 3rd pregnancy and have not experienced PPD one bit! I had exercised during my whole pregnancy and at my 6 weeks post partum point.. entered an online body transformation contest on BodyBuilding.com (to try to motivate me to lose weight – and the Grand Prize of $10k didn’t sound too bad either).
After having my 3rd Daughter and having to take “before” pictures.. really opened my eyes at what pregnancy does to a woman’s body. I had gained so much weight on my body that I was unrecognizable (and really was not happy with myself).. So i set out on a journey to get healthier, not only for me – but for my children. I wanted to set a good example for my girls that you need to take care of yourself in order to take care of others.
So with that said, I’d like to share my 3 month progress pictures. The before pictures were taken 6 weeks after I had my 3rd daughter (I was breastfeeding at the time, which probably also added to the weight gain).. this started in April and the end date of my challenge was on July 22.
I want to share my journey with as many women as possible. I know how a lot of women, especially Mom’s think it is impossible to get back to your pre-pregnancy size after pregnancy. Some women are blessed to be able to lose the baby weight and snap back to pre-pregnancy, but for others like myself – It’s really a journey. We all need to remember that during pregnancy, It took 9 months to pack on all of that weight, it’s going to take some time to get it off! But consistency is key when trying to reach your goal. I felt that it was much harder to lose the weight after my 3rd baby (after my 2nd pregnancy and my bout with PPD – that is when I officially started living a healthier lifestyle, lost over 20lbs and of course got knocked up!)
Even after my first online challenge, this is not the end. I still want to achieve my lean sexy body and of course in the future become a personal trainer myself and hopefully step on stage to compete in a Bikini competition. You can achieve your weight loss goals if you put in the time and the work to do it. I’m a great example that I never made excuses that I’m too tired, never have time to work out. I disciplined myself to either wake up earlier than everyone else in my family (especially before my baby) to workout or at least go for a jog or after school I’d set aside some time for my kids to do some coloring or drawing while I exercised at home (if I couldn’t get the the gym). It really is just a matter of taking baby steps. There are so many youtube videos and websites (like blogilates) that offer FREE at home workouts, so I definitely recommend trying it! The only way you’ll change is if you have the determination to do so! So please, use my example and if you want to get fit – you can, you just have to work for it!
