Fitting in Fitness, Fun and Food

It’s another Wednesday already! Jeez, July is flying by. Why does that always happen? Does anyone say January flew by? Nope. Oh well, I can’t stop time but I can just try to enjoy everyday as much as I can. You should too! ๐Ÿ™‚

It was freakin’ hot here yesterday! The kiddos and I spent the morning making new friends at their new daycare/school that they start at next week. This week we are doing a little introduction to prepare for the big move. When we arrived, their room was outside playing with the water tables and sprinklers. After hanging out and observing for 1 hour, I was EXHAUSTED! I applaud every daycare worker and teacher out there. Phew! I don’t know how you all do it.

After lunch and a nap, we headed outside to cool off with our own little water fun. No party is complete without a couple of chairs in the pool.

One thing I’ve learned since having kids is that there are so many ways to fit in fitness. There’s no excuse. We ran, jumped, did yoga, somersaults, cart wheels (at least I attempted ๐Ÿ™‚ ) and hopped like frogs. Be a kid again and have fun! Your kids are watching so make an effort to MOVE!

It’s another WIAW!

Smoothie Soup topped with blueberries and Grapenuts (still on a smoothie kick!)

Satueed kale with roasted sweet potatoes, green beans, red onions and walnuts. Yogurt dressing on top which I would leave off the next time I make it.

Premier Nutrition Protein Yogurt Peanut Bar – I just received these the other day. One bar has 30 grams of protein! Great meal replacement or after workout refuel.

Cocoa almonds and dried cherries

Chobani Greek Yogurt (old picture)

BBQ Tempeh Wrap with orange peppers, spinach, red onion, pickles and avocado

Head on over to Peas and Crayons for more WIAW!

  1. Great reminder in your post to get moving because little one’s are watching. I’m not a mother, but that point reminds me that we need to set an example for others. Live FitFluential!

  2. My kids love to exercise with me!! They think burpees are fun…crazy kids!! I do love going outside and jumping on the trampoline with them. We also like to chase the dog around the yard together. Kids are full of fun and fitness….naturally!!

  3. You’re so right about modeling fitness and staying active. I was thinking how I often get my workout in while she’s home with dad or in the Y daycare and then I watch her splash at the pool or play on the playground, etc… I want to try to be more active in front of her, too! Love that you were leap-frogging. ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Since my kids are older than yours, I like to have conversations with them about being fit and healthy. They say it always makes the feel better. I think its very important to have a relationship with great talks.

  5. I still need to make a smoothie soup!! I spent the morning at my son’s preschool class helping with a Chinese New Year activity and I promptly came home and slept for hours. I have NO idea how teachers do it all day every day. It amazes me.

  6. I actually have to be aware of that too. To actually MOVE while playing with my kids. A lot of times when we play indoors, I will just spread out on the floor with them instead of getting up and moving. That’s why I’m so ready for fall – more park time to run around and play with them. It’s just too stinking hot now!

  7. It has been so hot across the country.. now that we have moved to SoCal I am so spoiled and I am thinking that it will make me weak. Your tough! And my mouth is watering looking at that Kale… dang that looks good!
