Back in October, I participated in Grow Soul Beautiful‘s first #YogaADay Instagram Challenge. It was fun to play along and I kind of missed posting a pose everyday. So I joined again for the month of December.
It never fails to amaze me the originality some people put into their pictures. I truly was inspired to be a little bit more creative (or at least try). One thing yoga has taught me is that it is MY practice. I don’t have to be the most bendy. I don’t have to be perfect. The most important rules in a yoga practice – Breathe. Be Present. Have fun. Repeat.
With that, I give you #YogaADay in pictures.
I was really hesitant about posting for the last day of the challenge. It was Crane Pose. An arm balance. My least favorite thing to do. I have numerous balance issues – life and getting into headstand pose for example, so I wasn’t sure I’d even be able to hold on to it long enough for a picture. I barely got into the pose. It’s not even close to being “perfect.” But I posted it because that’s what I can do right now in my practice. Building up my arm and core strength and getting over my fear of falling on my face is something that I’d like to work on this year. Day 3 of the new year and I’m adding more goals! Jeez!
Grow Soul Beautiful is doing it again for January! Although the month has already started, feel free to post a #YogaADay photo to Instagram whenever the mood arises. Most importantly, have fun with it!

Super cool to see this! Since I am new to your blog I didn’t see most of them until now. Cool recap. I thought I was going to try to post again in January but I have yet to do it…I may today. Maybe.
It’s never too late to join in. Have fun!
YOU are definitely bendy!

Awesome! Have you seen the 2013 Yoga Challenge movement for January? It’s a similar concept – over 2,000 people are doing yoga every day: http://www.challengeloop.com/challenge/new-years-yoga
Off to check it out now! A little incentive to do even a few sun salutations a day is perfect!
Yay!
I loved seeing your pictures, especially the ones out in the snow!! The reminder that is your own practice is so so important and something that I have to keep reminding myself of often. You did great with crane!!

My mind is quick to tell me I’m not doing it right, enough, etc when doing yoga but I love the reminder to breathe, be present, and have fun

I loved seeing your pictures everyday. I would like to do a challenge like this, but I think I’d need a tripod to take the photos! BTW… crane is my nemesis! I’d have been nervous about that one, too.

I love the #yogaaday challenge! I think it’s so much fun to see everyone’s post and the different levels that people are at. Headstand pose and other inversions are definitely something I’m working on this year. Good luck!
