CrossFit WOD for Home

Last year, I got really interested in CrossFit. I had the opportunity to try a WOD (workout of the day if you don’t know the CF lingo) at the Healthy Living Summit back in August. I loved every bit of it! The fast pace, the intensity and the encouragement. When I started to research local Boxes in my area, I found that I do not love the cost. Ouch! Super expensive and out of my budget right now. So until the budget can handle paying that much, I decided to do my own WOD at home. There are tons of sites that can give you the WOD to do at home or your gym. You will just have to modify according to what equipment you have available.

Or you can do what I do – make my own WOD!

This WOD could be done at home, a gym(if there’s room by your treadmill and you don’t mind stares from others), track or outside. I did a warm up of easy running for 5 minutes before I cleared the time to begin. EMOM (every minute on the minute), I stopped the treadmill, jumped off and completed the 3 exercises before resuming running.

I loved this! It’s fast paced and kept me interested. You get cardio and strength in one workout. Perfect for time crunched days!

If you are interested in more WOD, here’s a few of my favorite resources:

The Traveling WOD

The WOD Shop

Learn Crossfit

Do you do CrossFit? If not, have you tried it?

  1. loooooooove crossfit :) just check out my post from today. i’ve been every day this week. i’ve found the cost to be a huge motivating factor for me! once my groupon ran out and we actually had to start paying, i’m now going 5-6 times a week instead of just two…and loving every minute!

Awesome! I just got a groupon for Crossfit and went yesterday. I want to join the box, now, of course, when the month is up! But we already have a great gym membership that we’ll never give up, so I can’t justify the Crossfit expense. Which is where this workout comes in perfectly! Thank you.

  6. I’ve never really done any crossfit. My husband kind of got into it for a while. He’d take a WOD to the gym and do that while I did my own thing. This looks like a good one!

  7. I haven’t “officially” done Crossfit, but I’ve enjoyed completing a few WODs on my own, both at home and at the gym. Thanks for this workout and the other resources. I’ll have to chem them out!

  9. I’ve felt the same way about cost- especially with so many resources online. But I know it’s always more motivating to have the group there to push me. Thanks for these tips and the workout! I haven’t been able to balance marathon training and cross fit, but would like to add it in a little more this spring.

    • I think the sense of community is what’s so alluring. It’s kind of like the running community. We’ve got each others backs and we help each other push through to achieve our goals.

  10. Pinned! I love CrossFit and definitely need an arsenal of at home WODs for when days get nutzo.

  12. Awesome! Saving this for a few weeks when my foot has healed. I’ve been wanting to try CrossFit at a box too but man, it is steep to join! And the lack of daycare at local boxes is another downside. But doing some WOD’s at home is a great idea!

Great stuff! I’ve never thought about doing a WOD with a treadmill like this, this will be a great traveling one for me!! I really love CF, and while the cost may be hard, I really value the community aspect of it.

I love any workout I can do at home :) I know I couldn’t do everything a WOD might require from home, but I do like that with Crossfit, you can do most of it with what you have. I have a friend who recently opened up her own box, but sadly she doesn’t live in my area :(

  19. I LOVE CrossFit! I’ve been doing it for over a year now and I can’t go back to other forms of working out, like I used to. It gives you such an intense workout in a short amount of time (which is a nice bonus!) and provides so much variety that you really can’t get bored! It is addicting!

  20. Thanks for sharing this! Like others, I tried CrossFit with a Groupon but the schedule/location/price just doesn’t work for me. I go to an Anytime Fitness that is literally 2 minutes from my house, which is pretty hard to beat, considering I usually have to squeeze in workouts however I can. Plus I’d only be able to go to CrossFit in the evenings, which means less time with my kiddos. But I’m glad I got to experience it and learn some new moves that I can weave into my strength training regimen.

My friend and I just did something similar this week at the gym! With cold rain all week, we were forced inside. It was so much fun and a great change from our normal workout. Definitely will try your workout next! Thanks for sharing!
