Courage + Giveaway

Courage is something we all need more of in our lives. Well, at least I feel that’s something I need more of. Courage to go after my dreams, try new things, think outside the box, and be a little bit more daring.

Courage quote - happyfitmama.com

My friend Holly is an amazing silversmith who works with natural metals to create organic, one-of-a-kind handcrafted pieces. In addition, she’s a bad ass mom of twins (yay twin mamas!) who is an active crossfitter. Check out one of her most popular pieces, the “Mommy Necklace.”

I wanted to do a little something special for the readers of HFM as a ‘thank you’ in honor of my 1 year blogiversary last month so I asked Holly if she would design a piece for a giveaway. I gave her a few words to play around with but left it up to her to do her magic. This is what she came up with:

Photo: Courage symbol necklace

The symbol for courage.

A beautiful necklace to serve as a reminder to be bold, face difficult times, danger, and pain without fear. Be strong.

So I’m giving away COURAGE today!

To enter the giveaway:

  • Leave a comment telling me the most courageous thing you’ve ever done. (mandatory)
  • For an additional entry tweet the following phrase or something similar and leave a separate comment telling me you did:

“Do you need more #courage? @happyfitmama is giving away a one of a kind necklace to help you find yours! http://wp.me/s2gk1o-courage #giveaway”

Giveaway ends Thursday, January 18 at 10 p.m. EST. Winner will be announced in Friday, January 19 blog post.

Good luck!

If you are interested in seeing more of Holly’s work, find her on Facebook, Holly Handcrafted Designs or her website, Holly Mills Designs. She is offering a generous 15% discount to anyone who mentions Happy Fit Mama when placing an order. Check it out!

The most courageous thing I have ever done is lived in Spain for 4.5 months. I didn’t know anyone, I didn’t know the language, and I was 5000 miles away from home! It was one of the best experiences of my life.

That is gorgeous! Would love to win it. I’m going to frame my courageous thing in running terms and that would go to running a 35k trail race in Australia–I was totally out of my league and wanted to cry during it, but did it!

What a lovely way to celebrate your blogaversary! It’s a beautiful piece!
The most courageous thing I have ever done was to decided to take on cancer and pregnancy at the same time. When faced with a choice of treatment now that wasn’t safe for baby (I was newly pregnant) or waiting and facing problems later, I choose the unknown and did BOTH- lots of research that ended up with an early but healthy baby, and eventually a healthy momma. That ended up being the catalyst to all kinds of bravery- and LIVING- for sure.

  16. I needed this post. Thank you. And what a beautiful piece of artwork. I think the most courageous thing I’ve done recently was to finally take a leap of faith and sign up for the ISSA personal trainer cert. I know that’s not really courageous compared to many other things, but for me, for now, it is.

For me, two things stick out in my mind as taking some courage on my part. I moved away from the place where I grew up, and had to go way out of my comfort zone to meet new people. Also, I recently hired a running coach to really take my running to a better level (for me). I was anxious about the whole thing for so many reasons, but in the end I am so glad I did it.

Super cool! I think getting married and running are an even split lol. With marriage I had many bad relationships and was terrified of commitment until I found my bestie ;) with running and having bad asthma, I’ve turned that courage into inspiration for others to don’t avoid trying something and just to live life!

The most courageous thing I have ever done was leave UNH after 3 years (pre-vet) and become a police officer. It was a complete leap of faith and the opposite of both my family path and most of my friends. It paid off big time since 13 years later I am in still in one of the best jobs I can imagine having! 47. This necklace is gorgeous…It may not seem like a big deal to some, but the most courageous thing I’ve done is to train for and run my first half marathon last night. I always said I “just couldn’t be a runner” and I found myself full-out crying as I crossed the finish line. I learned so much from that whole experience and it ultimately taught me to never ever give up.
