Summer is here and all I want to do is eat ice cream.
Now don’t get me wrong, I could eat ice cream year round. And I do. But summer. There’s just something about hot and humid weather that makes ice cream 10,000 times better. Am I right?
A few years ago, I found out about the beauty of blending frozen bananas to make soft serve or Nice Cream. It’s delicious and so easy!
Now, I’m not going to lie to you and tell you that it tastes exactly like ice cream. If you believe that then we have a serious problem.
But it does taste similar to soft serve or frozen yogurt and has the same consistency. If you add the right toppings and flavors, you can totally mask the banana flavor. Not that there’s anything wrong with bananas. I love bananas! But some people (ahem, Ron) do not like anything banana flavor.
Barlean’s recently sent me a canister of their Chocolate Silk Greens. I’ve heard of it before but never tried it myself. It’s kind of like adding greens to your smoothies or milk to up the nutritional value. Not only are there greens like barley grass, parsley leaf, and spirulina, there is also fruits and veggies like strawberry, carrot and açaí juice.
Barlean’s Chocolate Silk Greens is a great way to help if you need a little boost in achieving your recommended servings of fruits and vegetables. It’s made with Fair-Trade, antioxidant rich cocoa. There are no added sugars and it’s dairy, soy and gluten free and Non-GMO. It makes a great alternative to chocolate milk or hot cocoa too.
I’ve tried the Chocolate Silk Greens in smoothies, why not add it to Nice Cream for a nutritional boost?
A cool treat that tastes like chocolate. No that’s nice (cream).
- 2 frozen bananas
- 1 scoop Barlean's Chocolate Silk Greens or 2-3 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2-3 Tbsp Unsweetened Almond Milk (or milk of your choice)
- 1-2 spoonfuls Almond Butter
- In high power food processor or blender, combine all the ingredients. Add more milk to reach desired creaminess.
- Eat right away or freeze for later.
