Having time off from running has made me realize two things:

1. I’m really crabby when I don’t run.

2. My body needs more yoga. Again.

At one time I really was focused on becoming a yoga teacher. It’s still part of my long- term goals, but it just isn’t feasible right now with work, child care and well, life in general. It takes a lot of time. And rightfully so since it entails a lot!

Somewhere along the way this year, I lost my yoga practice. I’ll do yoga at home, but I love it best in a studio with others. The vibe is different. My practice has more meaning and intention.

So when my Achilles started to hurt and then my lower back, I knew it was time to get back to my yoga mat. If I want to run high mileage, yoga needs to be a part of my weekly routine. And if I really wanted to do it well, it meant going to a yoga studio.

What better motivator to do more yoga than cute yoga clothes?

I like to keep a hoodie or long sleeve top on during the beginning of a yoga class. Especially this time of year when I’m coming in from the cold. This cowl neck yoga top is perfect for that. It’s like your favorite pair of sweats made into a shirt.

Another thing to love? This outfit is perfectly acceptable to wear as a comfy lounge look without looking sloppy and screaming “I’m in workout gear!”

Such a versatile outfit that’s completely affordable…I think I should buy more! That’s always marvelous.

  1. Awesome Angela, and I think yoga will help a lot too. I have kinda lost my way also….I have done it twice in the last week, but I need to do it more. If it makes you feel better, I have a friend who had a serious running injury last year, she did yoga every single day, and she swears it helped her come back months before they thought she would. She said she knows it healed her, and of course has kept going! She’s a 2:06 800m runner by the way 😉

    As for new clothes, yes they definitely help! These c9 ones are cuuutte!

  2. I have a few C9 yoga tops and love them! Great fabric and price in one.

    I really need to get back to my yoga mat too. And I really need to stop saying that and just do it.

    I do enjoy yoga more in a studio, and as a fitness instructor myself I know a real life teacher is the best thing for everybody, now matter how experienced you are. They can see where form corrections need to be made and explain a position if necessary. I do love to practice at home too. It’s just so darn convenient!

  3. I didn’t run this week either to give my sore hip flexor a break and oh yea am I crabby. I planned to go to yoga but thought I should give that a break too. Amazes me how much that effects my mood. Going for a run tomorrow hoping for the best

  4. I agree with everything you said – I really need to maintain a yoga practice in order to help me run better and feel better overall and I can feel it when I stop going regularly. I also MUCH prefer going to a studio than doing it by myself. Love the clothes, Target has it all 🙂

  5. Yeah, I know what you mean, I’m not exactly super fun to be around when I can’t get out and run either 😉 Love that you do enjoy yoga and have that. I have tried and tried and just can’t seem to get into it. However, I have only taken one live class, the rest I’ve done various videos.

  6. I love both. I love yoga in a studio for the aspect of getting proper advice from a teacher. And I love hot yoga, and alas I can only do that when I go visit my parents.

    I do love doing yoga a home, more short no longer than 20mins, as a way to loosen sore muscles.

So sorry about Baystate. That was really poopy! 3. Yes, more yoga! The world needs more yoga. I would love to get to a studio but that gets tough with schedules. Plus, I haven’t found a studio that lights me on fire to get there.

    New workout clothes used to motivate me but I think I have over bought. Shhh, don’t tell John.
