Back To Business

Happy Monday!

Wow! It’s hard to believe we are in April already. Seriously, where did March go?  I usually do an end of the month check in to re-evaluate my Goals for 2012. This month I’m skipping it because honestly, I’ve slacked on quite a few of them! Most are works in progress like training for the 1/2 marathon in May and full marathon in September and blogging/freelance writing. I totally dropped the ball on reading one book this month. I have read a few magazines, does that count??  Ugh! I promise I will redeem myself in April. I already have a few books lined up like Run Like A Mother, Train Like A Mother (both by Dimity McDowell and Sarah Bowen Shea) and Lone Wolf:A Novel by Jodi Piccoult. Now if I can just pick them up…

Yoga Saturday

Saturday I went to my last heated Power Yoga classes for a couple of weeks. My 10 session pass is done and I’m just going to take a couple of weeks off before I buy another 10 from Rasamaya.

Kelly, the teacher for the day, lead a great class. She always starts each session with reading from The Book of Awakening. The passage said to never let your head go above your heart. Essentially it means don’t get a big ego. Good advice! The focus of each class in March was working on the Third Chakra. We worked on a LOT of planks, pushups, Chaturangas, side planks, and balance. My arms are still toast as I write this!

The End of Easy Week

Sunday’s run was my last run for easy week. I ran a little over four miles at a comfortable pace.

My hands were not comfortable. What’s up with the 25 degree weather???  Good lord were my hands frozen and in pain for the majority of the run. I shouldn’t complain but UGH! I want warm weather again!

This week it’s back to business. I’m scheduled for 20 miles. My long run will be 10 miles. I’m thinking of hooking up with the running group from Runner’s Alley on Saturday for at least part of the run. I could really use some more running buddies.  And of course, my favorite is returning this week – speed work!  Yay! Rest week was fun but I’m ready to get back into the training zone.

30 Days of Fun

I signed up for Run the The Finish’s Challenge for the month of April – HAVE FUN! It seems like a no brainer but I think everyone needs a little reminder to push the negativity aside and enjoy the smaller things in life. Just like Ben and Jerry say, “If it’s not fun, why do it?” Well…there’s some things that aren’t fun that you HAVE to do like paying taxes, etc. We kicked off our 30 Days of Fun by enjoying the Seacoast Science Center.

Running in the hallways is always fun!

Fishing is fun!

Cooper is fun!

  1. Oops! You reminded me that I didn’t get my March recap post in either! Maybe I’ll get to it later this week… your yoga class sounds awesome. I have to confess that I haven’t been back to that power yoga class yet. I’m gonna try hard to get there this week!

  2. I’m finally running in shorts again and I don’t miss the gloved hands! Hopefully soon for you too. I’m writing a goal check in post this week. I love hot yoga! Sadly since I started working out at home instead of the gym I haven’t been to a class in a while.

My workout plans this week are a new training plan to focus on increasing my pace and continuing my goal to run 12 half marathons in 2012 and 1 endurance relay. Basically, running, strength and stretch.

  3. I’ve got a tempo run, speed run, and 15 miler on tap this week with a day of yoga mixed in. It’s all about picking up speed the last 7 weeks before the marathon. I look forward to “easy” weeks like yours. I’d have to say that plank is harder. At least side plank is a change of pace.

  4. Hey there Mama! What Half marathon are you doing? I am doing the Half Marathon Unplugged in Colchester VT the weekend of the 14th and am psyched. It will be a good warm up to my marathon. How is your training going? Sounds like you have a pretty full plate but sometimes I find a full plate is better. Hope the month is starting off with a bang. Your kiddos are super cute by the way!

    Happy running!

    1. I’m doing the Wallis Sands 1/2 on May 6th. I love any race that’s along the coast – great scenery and FLAT! Training is good. I’m ready to amp it up for the full marathon training!

    1. Oh I’ll be back! Just taking a couple of weeks off because I’ve got too many weekend plans. Till then it’s yoga at home or in the backyard if it ever warms up enough!

  5. I love Cooper! And nice run! Good luck with your 20 this week. I have Lone Wolf from the library right now but I will probably wait for the audiobook. I have read all of her books but they get quite long and I’m just not feeling up to it right now. Sometimes she likes to “teach” to much too, like look at all this research I did!
