This post was created in partnership with Stonyfield. All opinions are my own.
Life is a marathon not a sprint.
With every marathon, you gotta fuel the right way. Running my life is the same way as running a race. Food is fuel. Without it, you tank.
Who needs a DNS or DNF in life?
I fuel myself and family with real, whole food. With two kiddos, who barely slow down to eat a meal, we need all the fuel we can get. One of my favorite ways to get in fast fuel is with a smoothie. You can get all the essentials to keep you running. Adding Greek yogurt is a great way to up the protein content while keeping you satisfied for hours.
This Apple Pie Smoothie is thick and hearty thanks to the oats but also creamy from the peanut butter and Greek yogurt. You can drink it with a straw or pull out a spoon for the last few bites. Whichever way you choose, it’ll definitely fuel your marathon.
- ½ cup unsweetened almond milk (or milk of your choice)
- ¼ cup rolled oats
- ½ cup Plain or Vanilla Greek Yogurt
- 1 apple, cored and roughly chopped (you can peel if preferred)
- 1 tablespoon peanut butter or nut/seed butter of your choice
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- Mix almond milk, oats and Greek yogurt in a bowl.
- Refrigerate for 1 hour.
- Add mixture to food processor or blender with remaining ingredients.
- Blend till combined.
Did you know that Stonyfield is the official yogurt sponsor of the 2014 Boston Marathon? This year they are sending 10 runners who just missed the cut off time due to the large number of entries this year. Starting at 5 am on Marathon Monday, Stonyfield Ambassadors, will be along the race course – from the Athletes’ Village in Hopkinton to the Family Meeting Area in Boston. These Stonyfield ambassadors will also distribute fun signs to spectators to help cheer everyone along the course.
You can get involved at home too! Join in the conversation on Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #StonyfieldSuperFan. You could win great prizes like a year supply of Stonyfield Organic Greek Yogurt, or a year-long membership to your local gym.
