It’s hard to believe that Labor Day weekend has come and gone. Wasn’t it just Memorial Day?
I would love to say that we soaked up the warmth of the last unofficial weekend of summer but the weather in New Hampshire had other plans for the majority of it. Rather than summer, we had a taste of what’s to come in fall.
I haven’t done a day in the life for quite some time so I thought it would be fun to do a weekend in the life instead.
Since I’m currently not running (I’ll fill you in tomorrow with all the fun stuff that’s been going on after I find out more about what’s up with my ankle later today when I visit the ortho for an x-ray), I’m fully embracing leisurely weekend mornings. Sleeping in? Yes please.
We took our time hanging out in our PJ’s until mid morning when we hit Home Depot for the monthly kids’ workshops. This month it was pencil boxes, perfect for back to school. Of course, everything was out in full force for Halloween. Can you believe this T-rex? For $299 you could have that
stolen from your yard in your front yard.
After building master pieces, it fully felt like a fall day so what better thing to do than go apple picking.
I love all things about fall – apples, pumpkins, cozy sweaters, jeans and boots. But I’m a summer loving girl even more. Give me flip flops any day! I’m not fully ready for what’s to come but I will admit that the crispness in the air kind of put me in the mood for layers.
My new Daria prAna sweater is perfect for the in between season. I can toss it on over a tank for going to the yoga studio or pair it with my Brenna pants. The cool thing about prAna is that their clothing looks good but is versatile enough for any lifestyle and any adventure. If you guys have been long time readers, you know that I LOVE my prAna clothes. It’s practically all I wear!
We made out with a bag full of apples and a box of peaches. I was completely bummed out that they were all out of Apple Cider Donuts. Boo!
The forecast had called for a cold, all day rain. We were surprised that it wasn’t raining when we woke up. After checking the forecast again, we found that the rain was supposed to hold off for a few more hours. We quickly dressed and headed out to Wagon Hill for a walk with Cooper. He totally shocked us with his puppy playfulness. At 12 years old, he sometimes acts like a grumpy old man. Not today. He was running full blast after the kids and playing with other dogs.

After our walk, we stopped at Emery Farm to finally get out our Apple Cider Donut fix. Fresh and hot out of the oven. YUM! I don’t want summer to end, but those donuts had me thinking of all things pumpkin and apple.
The rain eventually started so we ventured to the movies to see The Nut Job 2: Nutty By Nature. I thought it was great…probably because I slept through most of it.
After such a chilly, rainy Sunday, it was a welcome sight to see the sunshine on Monday. I met Julie for a hike up Gunstock Mountain followed by a summit yoga session. Even though my ankle isn’t 100%, I can still hike without too much pain so I went for it.
It was an absolutely gorgeous morning. From the beautiful rays of sunshine that filtered through the trees onto the trail to the lush greenery everywhere from the rain, I’m so glad I decided to hike up to the summit rather than take the chair lift.
I am in love with the lightweight fabric of my new Penelope Pullover from prAna. It feels like your softest, worn in t-shirt but has a more put together look for wearing to work or hanging out. I got it in white but I’m eyeing up the other colors because this thing is THE best. I love supporting brands like prAna because they care about what goes into their clothes in addition to giving back to the community and environment. I want my kids and grandkids to enjoy this beautiful earth for years and years to come. Being a conscious consumer helps!
FYI – Right now you can get 15% off your purchase from prAna with code MHMAB15 at check until 10/3/17. You need to check out all of their fall gear. Everything is too cute!
It was cool and windy at the summit but the sunshine felt magnificent as we did about a 60 minute basic yoga class before hiking back down.

I can’t wait to do a few more hike and yoga sessions up on Gunstock before it’s ski and snowboard season.
The weather back home put us in the mood for one last summer hurrah at the beach. So the beach is where we went. That’s the beauty of living in New Hampshire – mountains in the morning, ocean in the afternoon. I love it!
How was your weekend?
Does it feel like fall in your neck of the woods?
