A Few Of My Favorite Things

Hi everyone!

Remember last Wednesday when I said I had an intense urge to bake rather than cook any meals? Over the weekend, I gave in. Big time.

Cookies, scones, granola, lava cake! Just a few of my favorite things.

If you click on the links of all the recipes in this post, you’ll see that I’m a big fan of Mama Pea’s. The cookie recipe is the only one I use for cut outs. The lava cake is my favorite for when I need a serious chocolate fix. So good!

I’ve been balancing my dessert streak with my usual veggie love. I’m still loving my green smoothies. In fact, I got smart this past week and have now started making smoothies for EVERYONE. That means the little people get theirs and I get mine.

That usually does the trick except on Monday when they finished their breakfast first. As soon as I sat down, 2 little heads popped up next to me saying

“Have bite?”

You can’t blame ’em. My oatmeal creations are pretty amazing.

I found peaches in the freezer from one of our many trips to the orchard over the summer. Not as good as fresh picked but it gave me a little taste of summer in December.

My leftover lunches that I bring to work are random but hit the spot. It never fails that I get asked, “What is that?”

When I was planning out our meals for this week, I wanted to make Sloppy Josephine’s. But we were missing a couple of ingredients and I didn’t pick any of it up when I was at the grocery store. So I improvised. I just threw everything into the pan that I thought might taste good together – lentils, tomato sauce, garlic, diced onions and red pepper, and BBQ sauce. Simple and easy. The lentils were still a little crunchy but I kind of liked it better than the usual mush.

  1. Dude, your oatmeal creations DO look amazing! I have hopped off the oatmeal bandwagon but clearly need to get back on! I have been very diligent about doing my green juices but it gets old, I have to say. After this weekend’s marathon, I might take a month long break from the spinach/carrot grossness. ha ha.

  2. That first collage of food looks amazing! Scones are so good, and those cookies remind me that over Christmas break I’m going to be making some of my favorite sugar cookies with my mom. Okay, so I can’t really eat any of them, but I’m going to make dang well sure that they are frosted and sprinkled to perfection for my dad and brother. Haha. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. All of that food looks tasty. So, out of curiosity, do y’all eat meat? I didn’t know if your creation just happened to be a meatless meal or if all of your meals are meatless.

    1. Very rarely do we eat meat. If we do it’s chicken or fish. Just not a fan. The hubs is so I cave in every so often and plan something meaty. We just had chicken on Sunday so he’s happy. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  4. So cute that your little ones drink green smoothies! I’m not a mama yet, but when I do have children I hope to do that for them. Can’t start teaching those healthy habits too young. I’ve had a serious urge to bake lately too – I think I’ll give in this weekend.
