12 Years

12 years ago today, Ron and I said “I DO!”

It seems like a lifetime ago.

We were young and clueless. Very clueless.

But we were in love and just knew that we wanted to be together.

After 12 years of marriage (and 15 years together!), I can still say Ron is my best friend. He’s the one that can make me laugh the loudest. Smile the most. The one I can share everything with. Even the things he probably doesn’t want to know.

I know I have a good guy when he gave me the ok to run a 5k race today. Before you think I’m a horrible wife for wanting to run (and leave him with the kids) on our anniversary, we did our celebrating on Friday, spending the whole day together (kid free!). We didn’t do anything spectacular or over the top. We just enjoyed each others company. It’s something we don’t get nearly enough of so that alone is special enough.

Alright, it’s Sunday so let’s meal plan!

Sunday: Grilled Salmon + Veggies

Monday: Brinner

Tuesday: Springtime Crockpot Minestrone

Wednesday: Asiago Portabello Burger w/ Roasted Red Pepper

Thursday: Black Bean Enchilada Casserole

Friday: Ron’s Homemade Veggie Pizza

Saturday: Honey Cashew Chicken over green salad

If you are married, how long have you been?

What are you having for dinner this week?

  1. Happy anniversary!!! So glad that you are married to your best friend- the way it should be! Next Sunday will be 18 for us.
And, I’m happy to say that even though I haven’t been to the grocery store yet (first thing tomorrow!)I have a great plan for the next couple of weeks (around cello, and end of school stuff).

  2. Congrats on 12 years! We passed our 25 year milestone last fall. Where has the time gone? I don’t feel old…I’ll just start telling people I was 12 when we got married!

Nothing exciting on the menu this week. Just curious, do you adjust your meal choices for the season? We eat a lot of dinner salads in the summer, do more grilling once it gets nice out. Winter is definitely more comfort food.

    1. Thanks! It pays to be a young bride, right?? :)

My taste for meals does change with the seasons. I don’t really think of my crockpot or soups this time of year. It’s all about the grill and salads.

  3. Congratulations on being together for 15 years and being married for 12 years whilst living a healthy and fit life together. Interesting meal plan you got there and that is such a lovely photo. Stay happy, fit and in love. – Alice
